It is absolutely vital that the Home Secretary pays the House of Commons the courtesy of a statement before the House rises at 7pm tonight. And it's she who must make the statement, not the her junior Minister, the hapless Phil Woolas.
The House should demand nothing less.

oh but he is so charismatic :)
I would favour her statement consisting of two words -
"I resign"
Silent Hunter
Correction.
Make that 'we resign'.
Ah, Iain, you're an optimist!
Jacqui's already on the bus home, surely. It may be the right thing to do, but surely you don't think it's the probable thing. Nobody expects her to show up and say "ah well, that's democracy for you, fair cop."
Good luck Woolas
The fist seems to be rapidly losing any semblance of clunk.
@Political Dissuasion, isn't her "main home" pretty near the House of Commons?
Ah, but is that the bus home to her main residence, or the one inRedditch where her family live high on the hog at our expense?
The Penguin
Bit of a strained atmosphere in the bunker tonight.
"Steiner will come.I ordered it. Steiner will stop them. You'll see. Army detachment http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Army_Detachment_Steiner will push them into the sea."
That might stop her getting "home" in time to eat with her family...
Ms Smith's statement is:
'Oooh these Chicken Satays are fantastically spicy with the peanut sauce on'
How about "Ayo Gurkhali!" (The Gurkhas are coming!)?
No chance - it's late opening at John Lewis.
Doubt it very much - she's probably out shopping for homewares somewhere. Seriously, though - what in this government's record makes you think that there's any chance at all that she'll make a statement?
Will she be falling on her kukri?
Come on Iain. She'll be heading home to play with her new bath plug. These people are just plain wretched. Past their sell by date? In my book they should never have reached the shelf!
Any new porno on tonight then anybody know?
It's Woolas. Jacqui Smith is sat next to him.
