Labour MP to Defect to SNP?

The Sunday Herald reckons a Labour MP is on the verge of quitting the Party to join the SNP. Read the story HERE. So who might that be then?

The Scottish Herald report speaks of the potential stray as "He or she". Political correctness, or another clue?

I've gone for a rummage, and my money is on Gavin Strang, James Sheridan or Sandra Osbourne.

Sheridan had a letter in The Herald the other day defending Bliar's holiday in Miami--so its not him.

Gavin Strang......interesting.

(but have just seen Alex Salmond on TV denying any defection)

Running this story means that any defection that might have been in the offing will probably not happen now as potential defector backs out and dives for cover.

Pure guesswork but reckon Ian Davidson & Katy Clark might also be possibles.

Article mentions dissent over trident and Iraq -so Sarwar must be in the frame.

It also has to be remembered that given their good performance in recent polls, the SNP are now on track to take his Govan seat in the Holyrood election.

Strang is the lead contender for me as has reason to be embittered with Mr Tony, *and* he backed the Nats call for an inquiry into the Iraq war.

I suppose it is too much to ask that the member for Kirkcaldy might jump ship. That would be entertaining.

Could be pretty much any member of the cabinet, I suppose. My money's on Tony Blair.

The story was Sunday newspaper garbage.

The only people who announce the "possibility" of a defection are those who have no hope of a defection.

Katy Clark? You're having a laugh chauncey aren't you?

prob wont happen now but i would have reckoned katy clark was the best bet. she and gavin strang were the only 2 scottish labour mp's to sign jeremy corbyn's Trident EDM. Katy Clark's seat is next door to me and i know a lot of her labour loyalist members done apprpove of her. god only knows what brian wilson thinks of her. very much doubt it is jim sheridan or sandra osborne. none of these mp's represent seats where the snp really threaten labour at westminster though so would revert to labour at the General election although i know thats hardly the isssue.
