Newbie MPs Promoted in Mini Reshuffle

ConservativeHome has the full list of Shadow appointments HERE. I'm delighted in particular for James Brokenshire and Greg Clark, who is my local MP in Tunbridge Wells. These two are two of the nicest and most capable people in Parliament. Ed Vaizey will be delighted to be in the DCMS team.

I suppose the headline move in this rehsuffle is the departure of Bernard Jenkin as Deputy Chairman of Candidates and his replacement by John Maples. I can't pretend that I have always seen eye to eye with Bernard on the implementation of the A List, but there's little doubt that he has acted as a bit of a lightning rod.

Bernard I am sure means well, but he comes over a bit like the Tory version of Peter Mandelson.

I think the A list has been a way of reducing democracy in the Tory party and has caused much ill feeling in the ranks. I refused to vote for whom I was told.

Bernard is an rod, you're right there. A total and complete rod. Wot no Bercow? Surely he can't still be serving time for saying Dave was posh? He's a moderniser to his fingertips. Shame on Dave for leaving him on't backbenches.

Also surprised Bercow isn't there.

Its his interview with Widdy on 18DS TV that did for Bernard.

It looks like 18DS is a trial ground for future Tory ministers.

Make a poor performance and your out.

too true.Widdecombe showed him up for what he is,smug, self righteous, and full of shit.

I saw him on Doughty street too and I despaired. And they moan about the older bed blockers,it's people like him who hold us back.

maude next ...fingers crossed

Hmmmm wasn't due to the fact that he was a little dismissive of the chance of an Asian getting picked for a safe seat: bigots in the Tory Party surely not.

Since Jenkin was a lightning rod and Maude is billed as a lightning rod one can't help wondering just how many rods Dave needs in his policy free life.

Dave promoted his mates. Simple as that.

hardly his mates being promoted half the promotions were people in the davis camp during leadership election

Jimbo- Quality will out and lets face it,given his lack of real experience Dave needs all the quality help he can get.

Excellent piece over on Conservative Home covering Dangerous Dave's sacking of Bernard Jenkin-everyone should read and note-including the Member for Stratford on Avon.

I remember reading that Richard Curtis was at school(college?) with Bernard Jenkin - I can't remember what the full story was, only that Curtis has always included a vaguely unsympathetica character in each of his scripts called 'Bernard'

It was because Bernard stole Curtis' girlfriend, Ann, and went on to marry her. In the Party Ann is an influential figure in her own right. So Bernard may have lost his job but he's still got the girl...
