As you all know, I rather like Hazel Blears. I know it's something I will grow out of, but for the moment she is still 'my little chipmunk'. So it was with some degree of delight today that I learned that she is to become the Deputy Deputy Prime Minister in August. It seems that Hazel will be running the country in the absence of the Prime Minister, while John Prescott willbe hidden away in a broom cupboard somewhere...although on second thoughts, would they be able to find one big enough? Anyone, to the point of this post (at last, I hear you cry).
Hazel has posted an article on LabourHome questioning how the Labour Party can fight back against a resurgent Conservative Party. She ends her article with the most bizarre assertion together with a huge dig at Estate Agents...
"And that's how we will fight back: Labour substance versus Conservative spin. Labour taking tough decisions versus Conservatives dodging the issues. Labour values versus Conservatives prepared to do and say anything to get power. We may buy and sell our houses from estate agents - but would you put one in charge of the country."
Oh dear Hazel, methinks those comments might come back to haunt you. And only six comments in six hours on these words of wisdom. I trust my readers will rectify that immediately by clicking HERE.

That's quite good - we work on the basis of quality rather than quantity Iain.
:)
Alex
Is an Estate Agent worse than a lying bastard?
Discuss.
My dad used to be an estate agent, and he's probably the most honest person I've ever met.

But Alex- you've posted an article by Hazel Blears!
I like Ann Treneman's description of Bleearghs as "terminally perky".
LabourHomeless requires a log-in/username (and presumably two proofs of address, a creditcard number and passport photos) before one can comment.
Presumably any disrespect will have the boys round pretty sharpish, which scarcely encourages contributions.
Don't mind being moderated; do object to being bureaucratised.
Besides, Iain, there's a nicer class of vitriol on your site.
I gather that Ms Blurs is telling Mr Scolari that the result on Wednesday was in fact a huge disappointment for France, who would have lost decisively if only two more Portugese players had scored...
To adapt a line penned by John Milius (for 'Extreme Prejudice'), "There's only one thing worse than an estate agent, and that's a child molester".
Of course Ginger Haze doesn't have the sitzfleisch to do down another widely loathed business, the law, being a solicitor herself.
An awful, awful individual and it is desperately unfortunate that her chances of being voted out of Salford are so limited.

Alex, is that why we are waiting for one good policy from Labour.
"Prezza for PM" we need a laugh!!
I hate Gingers and Chipmunk isn't helping.
Forgive me for interupting this enjoyable discussion, but why is it not Two jags three shags sacked and hazel DPM as the headline?
OK, I appreaciate the nations relief at him being in charge, but surely this is HUGE news?
Dear Ian
Does la Chipmonk have any understanding of estate agents .... or the housing market
and who she & the comrades will blame,
when the Housing Market collapses in March/June 2007,
with the introduction of this Government (may they rule for ever)'s absurd Home Information Pack
What kind of Solicitor was she in her previous incarnation before the became a "real ;erspns" of weight and substance by becoming a Labour Minister
Will it be the usual scapegoats .... solicitors & estate agents whose views the Government has ignored
Yours ever
An Attorney at Law
Well after my somewhat short post lastnight I thought I would go back and read the Blears article again and guess what.....the link has been broken.
From my brief reading last night I thought it was a descripion of the labour party with a few names and events changed.
Bang goes my chance to discuss it.
PS Do hope my last post was not a bit out of order.
From Friday's lobby briefing available here:
“Asked if the Deputy Prime Minister would be in charge when the Prime Minister was on holiday, the PMS said that the situation was as usual.”
Is this another ‘non-denial denial’ that seems to be in vogue at present?
"What kind of Solicitor was she in her previous incarnation"
Splutter! As an alleged attorney at law you should know that there is no such thing as a "kind" of solicitor. We are all fully qualified to advise on any area of law based on our understanding of underlying legal principles. The only limitation is that we have a discretion to chose not to advise if we personally feel ill-equipped to do so. "Kind" of solicitor - the very thought!
She was a local authority solicitor I think, which strikes me as quite interesting and varied but not very well paid.
If Hazel doesn't get the DPM job she has a bright future as a Ronald McDonald looky-likely.
Is it my imagination or is LabourHome actually just anti-ConservativeHome? A glance on there shows article after article about Cameron, about the Conservatives, about what ConservativeHome is saying. Surely the party in government should have more to talk about than who is in opposition?
Sorry, so "I wouldn't put [insert profession x here] in charge of the country" is an insult to [profession x], is it? Would you put estate agents in charge of the country? Not "do you have anything against estate agents" - would you put estate agents in charge of the country?
Nah, the link's still there...although it's awfully sad that there are more tories commenting on the piece than nulab zombies
Just heard Hazel Blears on Radio 5 live talking about Afghanistan. My god what a mess! People such as Ms Blears who have NO idea about the armed forces let alone the huge cultural problems over there are just making an absolute incredible mess which is going to get an awful lot worse and will very unlikely get any better. She was just spinning and spinning and talking over the interviewer but for christ sake there are guys there tonight as I type who are in mortal danger. I really want to hit something very hard or just get away fromthe UK for a few years I just can't stand the laziness and apathy of the British people we get what we deserve!

Rather an estate agent than an ex ship's steward who goes in for tearing down perfectly good houses in the north to feed his ego and look friendly to the property developers.
Leave poor Hazel Blears alone. I have so missed Hilda Baker since her demise and Hazel fills the gap with great conviction.
She know you know.
