Can Margaret Beckett not take her caravan abroad on official business now and save us good taxpayers a bit of cash on accommodation? I'm sure Bush would let her park it on the White House lawn. No need for the remaining UK embassies simply have meetings in the caravan - clearly caravan diplomacy rather than shuttle diplomacy. Even better stick a couple of wings on the side and a lawn mower engine on the front and hey presto you've got the foreign sec's very own customised flying caravan - again save on all those airfares she was so fond of racking up whilst saving the planet at DEFRA.

I'm pretty sure it stands for "Can't Deport". Comrades are expected to advertise the fact to johnny foreigner by displaying the initials on their cars when they nip over the channel for low tax booze...

She could invite Condy round for a nice weekend in the Lake District. (she's got a 4 berth hasn't she?..

Condy could reciprocate with a tour of the Grand Canyon in the White House Winniebaygo - (to account for the secret service men, state officials, advisors, et al, the White House Winny is a 250 berth model)...

(and 'CD' stands for 'Arthur Scargill in a dress')....
