Where's Richie Cunningham When You Need Him?

Just when you thought things couldn't get any more bizarre, Glen O'Glaza from Sky News reports that The Fonz (Henry Winkler) has just gone into Downing Street. Heyyyyyyyyyyy.

Oh, and isn't it strange that we have so far not heard a peep out of the Lord Mandelson, the Richie Cunningham of New Labour. It was he, readers will remember, who saved the PM in June, manned the phones and persuaded all sorts of senior Labour figures to stick with Brown. He was also never off the TV or radio.

Am I alone thinking that this time he might not lift a finger?

He doesn't need to prop up the moron any more - the Lisbon Treaty is ratified; Mandelson has done what he was sent back to do. Now he can set about trying to prevent the complete annhialation of Labour at the GE.

Do not be comparing Richie Cunningham to Mandy.

Richie Cunningham was awesome; Mandy is a turd.

Turd =/= Awesome.
Learn the difference, Iain. It could save your life.

The Great Fonz is surely also past it now. Probably organising a save the children from something bash.

Moe importantly, Brown could save the party a lot of campaign money by calling an election now. But it would surely be recognised as a cut and run to escape the votes of his own MPs no less.

He seemed to have settled on a better environment by May, now even that faint hope is gone.

Henry Winkler is actually an ambassador for helping dyslexic kids, so it might have something to do with that.

Or Gordon's Juke Box might be broken.

it is perhaps more to the point that mr winkler has been recently performing as captain hook in panto in liverpool........as a man experienced in fighting off a cabal of younger more energetic enemies whilst being pursued by a grinning reptile to the sound of a ticking clock perhaps mr brown is giving him some tips on the role....?

Whilst he sips a fine white wine over lunch Mandelson will be finding it very difficult not to smirk and saying "I have done all I can. The man is a magnet and attracts everything but good news".
Could Mandelson be wanting the High Rep job in Europe......Under a potential Tory administration?

Iain, are you sure this hasn't been concocted by Mandelson himself?

Yes, Bill Quango: liquid metal too, if a bit oily…

Isn't the Dark Lord doing a big interview on Newsnight tonight? If Paxman's on form it could be a landmark session...
