Bedford: What Goes Around...

Further to my previous post about Bedford, I just got this email....

I was at the 2001 parliamentary seat selection for Bedford - she [Nicky Attenborough] made sure that the final members meeting was held in Kempston, where she was the local councillor. She duly packed the room with local supporters of hers.... and strangely enough, won.

Strange how these things happen.

Perhaps Parvez Akhtar learned about political organisation from Mrs Attenborough's own example. It would be cruel to say what goes around, comes around. But it would be accurate.

No, it is just a law of humanity that as ye sow, so shall ye reap..

As our first candidate for Mayor back in 2002, i know better than most what being stabbed in the back feels like. On that occasion the person i beat in the selection process (a sitting conservative County councillor) stood as an independent against me. With a split vote, an election agent who decided to defect to Frank Branston, and an indifferent party we came 3rd.

Bedford Conservative politics has become a cesspit, and until our members understand that stories about discontent will only drive away our natural support and let our opponents gain a foothold we will be destined to be out of power in this town for many more years to come.

incidentally the councilor in question in the 2002 was duely expelled from the party despite some of the other councillors who wanted to keep him in. It is enough to make you despair.

If you want to see what a real cesspit looks like, see what happened to Chris Walker in Berwickshire Roxburgh and Selkirk.

Did she pack the room with Quietzapple's relos, or LibDems, or friends of Boris?

Or Tory party members?

Isn't there supposed to be a difference? Or, to be fair, a variety of differences, depending on which non Tories are there voting?
