The Daley Dozen: Monday

1. City Unslicker has a good piece on energy policy post Bali. Love the reference to George Moonbat.
2. Guido asks what Lee Jasper has on Ken. What indeed. Or should it be 'who'?
3. Dizzy reckons Ed Balls might have a spot of data bovver.
4. Nadine goes back to Liverpool, where the Conservatives are on a bit of a roll - and yes, you read that right.
5. John Redwood takes Labour to task for its approach to law-making - and boy has he stirred up a hornet's nest...
6. James Forsyth at The Spectator Coffee House reckons the only winner of the LibDem leadership contest is the Tory Party. Good man.
7. Cranmer reviews MAKE ME A MUSLIM. It's not pretty.
8. Chris K enters the 'Are All Tories Evil' argument. He agrees with me that they're not.
9. Kevin Maguire reckons Chris Huhne will be charged with wasting Police time. At least he hopes...
10. Andrew Blick (who ought to know better) has a ridiculous post on Our Kingdom about MPs supposedly having a month off over Christmas while the rest of the country slaves away. Most of them will be spending 2 weeks of it attending to constituency duties Andrew. Something you surely must know.
11. Donal Blaney has a sorry story about the NHS.
12. LibDem Voice urges you to cast your vote for two Iain Dales (and a partridge in a pear tree).

According to Alex Shnozilla Hilton Conservatives are not only evil but actually morally equivalent to rapists and paedophiles. ? Get this magnificent piece of Stage School Princess Screaming. His definition of the paedophile attitude would certainly include most of the Labour Party and practically all its support as well.

"But abandoning people to a life without hope or opportunity( as he claims Conservatives do) is tantamount to torture; and abandoning their children is child torture. So if you like you can perform the same self-justifying moral and semantic acrobatics we see from rapists, murderers, paedophiles and torturers of the regular kind.

But it doesn't take away what you really are inside."

Were he an old testament prophet and not a grovelling little worm slithering up the establishments inside leg , this prepostrerous cant might conceivably might be taken seriously....naaaahhh.

Nadine Dorries' description of her memories on her return to Liverpool was a beautiful, moving piece of writing. I wish she took comments on her blog!

John Redwood

Apart from the post you have linked to his two more recent posts rang even more bells. (If that's possible given the ridiculously heavy handed money laundering law Labour introduced).

My latest post links to his blog on the topic of our law making process (such as it is)!

Iain,

"Most of them will be spending 2 weeks of it attending to constituency duties"

So this brings their 'holiday' period down to just over two weeks - slightly more than the rest of us, then.

One has to wonder what it is that MPs expect to do and get by way of remuneration and time off. After all, they do volunteer themselves for 'service' to their constituents. They do have immense privilege and substantial reward. I'm not aware of any MP suffering real financial hardship. Perhaps if they find this vocation too stressful they could find work somewhere else. How many choose to do that? Are they leaving the House in droves?

But perhaps it's not quite as simple as that.

A beautiful post by Nadine, very moving. Good to see Liverpool Conservatives on the way up and that she is still supporting them.
