An Evening With my DVDs

The great thing about recuperating after an operation is that it gives you the chance to catch up with all those DVDs you buy but never have time to watch. This evening I have watched The Sentinel and First Daughter. The latter was truly awful - a schmalzy movie about the daughter of an American President who falls in love with her secret service agent. The Sentinel was marginally more entertaining and starred Michael Douglas and Kiefer Sutherland, who, as ever, seemed to be playing Jack Bauer. Douglas was a secret service agent who was being framed in an assassination attempt on the President of the USA, while at the same time conducting an affair with the First Lady. Sutherland thought Douglas was having an affair with his own wife. In the end all's well and the President is saved by Douglas who then resigns his job. With me so far? Oh well...

Obviously based on the real-life story of Priscilla Presley and her fitness instructor.....or episodes of Columbo. I suppose they murdered her father and took over the country so her lover's family could land in alien spaceships in DuPont Circle and take over the bodies of Congressmen and Senators ?

and that all the aliens spoke with English accents....but the good guys were Washington's black population who, stoned on crack, could not be subjected to mind control like the iced-tea drinking liberals in Georgetown

I accidentally watched "Heroes" for the first time last night and now I am hooked. It's got this edgy David Lynchy feeling about it. I love the two Japanese guys. And the cop. And the artist. Oh no. I AM hooked.
