From the Sunday Times...
“Linda McDougall is in a good position to joke about Prescott’s sexual predations. She says she had first-hand experience of his behaviour long ago. “It was 1978, just after my husband had become an MP. I was 35. There was a memorial lecture for his predecessor, Anthony Crosland, and we were welcoming guests into our house. I opened the door to Prescott and showed him in. It was the first time I’d met him. As he came through the door, he pushed me quite forcefully against the wall and put his hand up my skirt. Things were different in those days. It was not uncommon for men to take their chances. He was just trying it on. There was no big fuss. I just rebuffed him politely. He shrugged and winked and we all carried on. But from that day I knew what sort of man he was.”

Despite this and numerous similar instances, this is the man Blair wishes to have sitting at the Cabinet table as his deputy.
I for one can't wait for Prezza's next appearance at the dispatch box and the derision that will undoubtedly ensue.
Bloody hell. Prescott must have been desperate. Have you seen Mitthell's wife? looks like a boxer. Why no pic Iain?
She's being pretty charitable here, isn't she? Welcoming a man she's never met before, a guest in her house, and he's shoving her against the wall and groping under her skirt. Saying that it wasn't uncommon in the 70s for men to try it on! It's not unusual today either for men to fancy their chances, but I don't think that at a formal function (a memorial, she says) the average man would consider groping his hostess before he's said Hello to be normal behaviour, would he?
Or have I just led a sheltered life and only ever met gentlemen - having worked almost exclusively in a male-dominated environment for virtually all my working life............
(Wicked thought here - has Cherie experienced the Prescott brand of sophisticated greetings, I wonder)
Quite right Jafo. Proper etiquette suggests that a gentleman carry out a groping of the hostess only after the ladies have retired to the drawing room, and the men have finished off the port. Any time before, and the man's clearly an ill mannered oaf.
Men may have been a bit less equally minded in the 70's but like LLKMF I find it hard to believe that groping ones hostess on meeting her for the first time has ever been considered appropriate behaviour in any circles.
If true it is simply yet more evidence that Prescott is unfit to hold any office, least of all DPM.
Just when are the harpies going to start campaigning for his dismissal? I've yet to see one of the femi-witches being interviewed on tv about these allegations. can we expect the same silence when a Tory gets caught shagging out of bounds?

How the hell does he get away with it?
If he groped my wife I'd deck him. Who cares what title he has.
LLKMF,
Naturally I was only refering to human circles. You are correct in noting that certain ape species lack the social decorum of the higher hominids.
This does open up certain interesting lines of scientific questioning; the main one being: "Is the DPM the missing link?"
We all know Piltdown Man was a fake, but could Humberside Man be the real thing? Early evidence does lead one to consider the possibility.
Could we persuade the PM's Scientific Advisor to leave his climate change hobbies for a few days to conduct some tests?
