We shouold be so happy Channel 4, communists and all, chose this site as the vehicle to slag the Tory party off
Ian - I think the commenter in the clip, who said you were not selected because of this blog, was in part correct. I don't mean this to be criticism, just an honest appraisal, so please don't take offence. And I could of course be wrong!
Your blog has a lot of gossip from the lobbies - you are already captivated (obsessed?) by the Westminster village. I think central office wants to move away from this, to more 'ordinary people' who are not political junkies. Much that I like reading your blog, and I am sure you would be very effective in Westminster, I don't think you fit the bill - you aren't what central office are looking for (at least in this round, anyway). Whether that is right or not is open to debate.
However, the one thing Rickets is, is ordinary. He is no great political mastermind, doesn't even come across as being very interested in politics. But what he might do is get the ordinary voter to look in the Conservative direction - he isn't a stuffed shirt, and just might say things how they are rather than skirting around the issue. I am not defending the decision to select him - as I think it was wrong - I am just trying to explain their reasoning.
Eric - said incident was on BBC news last night. It was a very long, loud, fake laugh and I have never seen Gordo move so quickly.

Hmmm, I'd give that blond one a go, but then she's from Channel 4...
