If I were a Labour supporter I'd be going for Hilary Benn or Alan Johnson. But Johnson may have his eye on the top job. As a Conservative I'd love it to be Ms Harman. Vote now in the new poll in the left hand column!

New Poll: Who Should Replace Two Shags?
Who would you like to see replace John Prescott as Deputy Dawg Leader of the Labour Party. It's quite clear he's on his way out - maybe soon, maybe when Blair goes.
If I were a Labour supporter I'd be going for Hilary Benn or Alan Johnson. But Johnson may have his eye on the top job. As a Conservative I'd love it to be Ms Harman. Vote now in the new poll in the left hand column!

Got to be Hain. Anti ID cards, anti-nuclear, someone who makes politics more interesting. or at least he will, once he's not living in fear of being sacked.
Looking at the list of the best and brightest potential candidates for the deputy leader of the Labour Party really does underline the lack of quality people they now have. Alan Johnson and Hilary Benn are probably the best of a bad bunch.
For the sake of the country, anyone but Harriet Harman. No party advantage is worth her being a holiday from the reigns of power.
Ross F is absolutely right - despite having over 350 MPs, Labour is rapidly running out of fresh talent - very reminiscent of the late/post Major period.
You could sense it then and you can sense it now - literally over the past few weeks, they are over the "tipping" point and there's no way back - Blair, Brown or whoever, it will make no difference, except that as a result there will be no General Election until 2010.
Iain, where's the button to vote for Deputy Dawg?
Yes Hain would be very funny. Stephen Pound? He seems to want the job. Dennis Skinner. Bob Marshall Andrews. It all reminds me of school when you would just vote for the biggest idiot to be House Captain(save in the knowledge that nobody counted the votes anyway!).
Hazel Blears. She needs to be brought to greater prominence, and a few pronouncements from her would result in an outbreak of national teeth grinding that would be deafening......
As a Tory I'd prefer to see Prescott keep his job.He can't do any damage now and he is a fantastic advertisement for the Labour party.Not.
Voted for Clare Short thinking that there probably wouldn't be many thinking what I'm thinking. There are.
Any English MP's in that lot? They probably wont get it then.
