I have just listened to yet another Labour MP call for Prescott to go. But this time it was a member of the Government! Unless I am very much mistaken Stephen Pound is still a PPS. On Jeremy Vine's show he follwed Derek Wyatt and Christine McCafferty in calling on the DPM to go. He said: "People question why he's paid 130 grand to play croquet." I suspect Mr P will be getting a call from the Chief Whip. If not, why not?

Just listened to a radio phone in. People calling in seemed to be generally uninterested in politics but very animated about this. He lost his job, but he's keeping his perks? And wasn't he supposed to be working etc? The clamour for him to go has reached fever pitch. Facts of the case have now become irrelevant. This really should be curtains.
I very much dislike Mr Pound, but he has made the right call. John Prescott must go.
However, it would be helpful for the Conservatives if he stuck around much longer, reminding the electorate of how incompetent and disgusting Labour are.
I absolutely agree and wrote about this earlier today. Prescott shows no sound judgement whatsoever. I don't believe he will survive this latest onslaught against his credibility.
How bad has it got when the one person to come to the rescue is the son of the only modern day politician who can lay any claim to principles.
Tony Benn will be furious that his son has defended such shallow and unprincipled power lust.
Surely Hilary has not lost his way too.
Let's hope he is too old to be put over his father's knee!!

As much as it pains to me say it, I can't see Prescott going anywhere anytime soon. If Prezza has to go, he'll take Blair with him. If Blair has to go before he's ready to go, Blair will take the lot of them with him. What was that song Morecambe and Wise used to sing at the end of their show?
Larry is right. Prescott will not be moved unless Blair is made an offer he cannot refuse by backbenchers. Prescott's reputation following Chipolatagate is forever diminished. He will refuse to be brought down by an even greater indignity - The Daily Mail. The big loser in all this is Brown - and he lacks the balls to act. BBC News website invited comments on Prescott's position. Never has there been such unanimous hostility to one man. Instructive. Rock and hard place for Tone.
Did you hear that MP saying what a workaholic Prescott is? How he's at it all the time - at what wasn't defined - does far too much, comes back from his holidays early etc. etc.
Hearing that on back to work after a Bank Holiday really gave me a laugh - and they say there are no comedians left!
The news about John Prescott does seem to be reaching people outside the normal political circle, could it be that people believe that any body outside the cabient (the real world) would have been given their marching orders by now. There must be a reason why Blair is sticking up for John...
He needs to realise that there is more important things to worry about then his fears and legacy, but a 'bad' Labour government is 'good' for us Torys.
