It does bring back into the focus though, why are the Tories not allowed to speak to civil servants about implementing an alternative programme?
Brown said it was a convention that Shadow c of E's did not talk about the currency, then we discovered "A weak currency is the sign of a weak economy, which is the sign of a weak government" Gordon Brown as shadow C of E.
So if Brown can sight a nonsense convention about sterling. Why can he not abide by a convention induced by the best election winning PM (Harold Wilson) the Labour party has ever had? It sheds an interesting light onto why Brown fails in the election department!
How is Wilson the best election winning PM? One decent working majority in 5 attempts? I'm sure there was someone since. Name escapes me...
It's annoying to see Brown get these little things wrong. Not allowing the briefings looks petty and as he is inevitably going to have to cave in on it what good does it do? As for the other convention, the idea that the markets are remotely interested in Osborne's opinion is ridiculous.
The reason why Wilson was the best election winning is the fact he effectively won 4! Plus I think if you cobble the percentage of the vote together in each election it was better than Blair's efforts despite the parliamentry arimatic!
It is also a good way of winfding up Blairites and Brownites!
I'm no economist, but I'm pretty sure that the markets tend to respond to every little tremor - every minor detail in the world. Whether it's Obama winning the election, or Osborne making a goofy comment (neither have any immediate, direct impact), the markets react.
the vote share comparison is perhaps misleading given the relative weakness of the third party vote. Even so, only last time out did the vote fall below 40%.
TA,
Indeed, the butterfly effect. Nevertheless it struck me as an odd accusation to make.

Jimmy, I agree with much of what you say!

Blimey!
That uneleted Gordon vote link is full of annoying pop ups :o(
Hmmm. Right underneath your headline announcing Labour's new ad campaign is a banner advert for Russian brides.
Perhaps they're after a new funding stream...
I've never seen as many links to one post before!
My favourite of those would be the "We haven't got a f***ing clue" one.
