More Evidence of Sexing Up
Hans Blix has accused Number Ten spin doctors of sexing up the dodgy dossier by replacing question marks with exclamation marks. More from the IRAQ DOSSIER BLOG.
I am shocked, but the use of any exclamation marks in an official report is awful. It is, as one news journalist said, like 'Laughing at your own joke'. If you need an exclamation mark to make your point, then you haven't written clearly enough. I am surprised those 'civil service' types didn't ask for it to be re-written.
This is what happens when you let a 'tabloid twat' like Alistair 'Fuck Gilligan' Campbell loose in the heart of Government. He oughta be shot..
Hmnn.. Iain, are you sure you aren't applying your own spin. I saw the same interview on Sky Neews as the Ira Dossier Blog saw and it was far from clear whether or not Mr Blix was speaking literally or figuratively.
A fourth focal point has been the investigation of reports of Iraqi efforts to import uranium after 1991. The Iraqi authorities have denied any such attempts. The IAEA will continue to pursue this issue. At this stage, however, we do not have enough information, and we would appreciate receiving more.
The next day, January 28th, George W Bush, in his State of the Union address declared:
The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa
You may have thought that at best, the US and the IAEA were not consulting on the issue of uranium.
Not at all. It was worse. The CIA itself dismissed the veracity of the claim and the substantive content of the "sixteen words" used by Bush in his address to the nation.
Even worse, a bungled attempt to discredit a contradictory view of the "sixteen words" led to the blowing of Valerie Plame's cover as a CIA agent and eventually the conviction of the Chief of Staff to the Vice President on four felony counts.
Anyone want to see a video piece on what life would be like without America to help us?
Form = IDS basically saying he would support anything the US would do.. as did Michael Howard.
As the Daily Telegraph (!) analysed SH's conventional weapons before the war started and concluded that sanctions had rendered them ineffective (no spares/out of date) ,,, it was obvious to any INTELLIGENT reader that Tony's claims were carp.
Waht that says about the Conservatives confirms my view of most politicians.:-((
I recall very few Conservatives stood up and defended Gilligan, Dyke and the BBC at the time...
Shame really, and still a shame there still seems so few willing to hark back to that episode and say "the Beeb was right, and we should have backed them more"

That's Wrong? Sorry, I meant .. That's Wrong!
Does this expose the fact that Blair lied? how could he? especially with those smiling gnashers.
In which case surely Andrew Gilligan must have meant:
The Iraq Dossier was sexed up?

He didn't mention a specific document.
On January 27th, 2003 the IAEA reported:
