I have touched on this subject before, but the tendency of government PPSs to betray their duty of collective responsibility seems to know no bounds. Another example occured yesterday when Gordon Brown's PPS Ann Keen signed the letter demanding the recall of Parliament. Two other PPSs (Shahid Malik and Khalid Mahmood signed also).
What is Ann Keen up to? Surely she must have realised her action would be highlighted and all sorts of motives assigned to the Dour One? It's time for the Labour whips to do a bit of 'gripping'.

Brentford & Isleworth, isn't she?
With a significant Asian population?
And a majority that's already dropped from 14,000 to 4,000?
And you're asking why she's getting agitated?
Tut.
"No greater love hath a (wo)man than she lay down her friends for her (political) life."
Pointless being cup-bearer to the celtic Achilles (currently lurking in his tent) if she ain't gonna be around after the next election to reap the benefits.
I think it is a bit of an exaggeration to call this a betrayal - and to perceive it as a calculated manouevre seems a little unfair. I think that you needed to do a bit more digging before getting quite so animated. However, I do think that she does need to explain her position further. NB - I am an Ann Keen constituent, if the May 2006 council elections results are anything to go she's out next time.
