Vote for Your Political Hero
Readers may like to take part in THIS poll for the Politics Show to choose your Greatest Living British Political Hero. No No No prizes for guessing who I voted for.

A shame not to be able to vote for Norman too. Perhaps I should apply for a postal vote!
It is really difficult, though I accept that Thatcher was the most important PM since Churchill and has yet to be overtaken on that score, she is not what I call a "hero".
That has to go to Tony Benn. No contest.
He is and has remained a man of integrity and stature, ever since the day he renounced his title (that he did not pay for) and stood up for his beliefs at the cost of high office.
It is a sort of tragedy that he is not in the House of Lords, even though he must be entitled under two counts.
He understood socialism. His main flaw was to believe that everyone else did - instead of that travesty of socialism that Thatcher had to get rid of.
Damn, found out after I'd voted that I'd voted with the vast majority. And I was always proud of being contrary. As for Norman, you can't vote for him - he pulls the wings off flies, according to Tony Robinson.

Iain, I assume that, like me, you have voted for Tony Benn - the best Prime Minister this country never had.

Maggie. She is a hero. She had vision, leadership and steadiness of purpose. She changed Britain for the better.
(She was on 51.25% when I voted just now. Far out in front.)

I used to think Maggie was great. Then I grew up and had the scales lifted from my eyes. Time for you kids to do the same.
Jesus! Can I change my vote. I'll gladly hold my nose and vote for Salmond if it stops Thatcher running away with it.

I know I shouldn't be, but I'm surprised at the high percentage of the vote Alex Salmond (apparently) has taken on.
Hmmm...not convinced that a poll in which you can see how others have voted BEFORE you cast your own vote is any way credible.
Nobody is now going to 'waste' a vote on Matthew D'Anconservative or even Peter Obore, when they can 'back one of the favourites' so to speak.
Love the weaselly comment at the bottom to the effect that the poll might not reflect "...public opinion" ie the BBC's
