New Poll: Cameron v Brown v Campbell

Tomorrow's ITV Sunday Edition programme will reveal a new NOP poll showing that David Cameron beats Gordon Brown and Ming Campbell hands down when they're put head to head. Asked who would make best Prime Minister Cameron scores 29%, Brown 19% and Ming Campbell a mere 5%.

Interestingly 39% said he had the "freshest ideas" compared to Gordon Brown's 10%. 33% said Cameron was in touch with modern Britain compared to only 17% for Brown. However, worryingly for the Conservatives, Brown outscores Cameron on national security, albeit only by 1% (22-21%)

LibDem voters would rather have Charles Kennedy back as leader by a factor of 40% to only 15% for Sir Ming. Nick Clegg is already more popular than his party leader.

I don't think this poll tells us a lot we didn't already know from other polls, to be honest.

It's the national security one you want to watch. One nuke in London and Brown in for good will be collateral damage.

Still ... 29%. Is that ... er ... good?

I took part in this poll. It was an internet poll as part of a daily TV survey I complete for GFK/NOP.

"I don't think this poll tells us a lot we didn't already know from other polls, to be honest."

To which my answer would be:

(a) apart from all the other polls, eh Iain?
(b) if this is so, why waste a blog post on it?

Iain, Do you put this down to the "Polly Toynbee factor"

Or Cameron embracing his "inner t*sser"?

We're before the watershed here, people.

One thing you can be sure of, it will not be mentioned on the BBC.

So four out of ten think Tosser Cameron has the freshest ideas, despite his never having come up with any that weren't nicked from the likes of Tosser Toynbee and her mates. One in ten thinks Tosser Brown has fresher ideas (after all those years since Granita. Really?)

So what is the other 50% of the voting population alleged to think? More to the point, why does anyone with any common sense or minimal comprehension of statistics take opinion polls seriously?

One nuke in London and I don't think we'll care much, one way or the other.

"Nick Clegg is already more popular than his party leader."

Crikey. If a public non-entity like Clegg is beating him he's in deep poo.

Ken Clarke perhaps?
