STOP PRESS - KENNEDY TO QUIT?
I hear that Charles Kennedy is about to make a statement on his future. It appears that just under half of his shadow cabinet have signed a letter saying they have no confidence any longer in Kennedy's leadership. The game, it seems, is up.

By my reading you got that news before anyone else. How? And well done.
I've just seen this on BBC News 24. Not only has he spoken about his drink problem, he has called a leadership election. Interesting to see who would be first to announce his candidature. Mark Oaten has just ruled himself out, but silence from Ming so far. I think CK is banking on the sympathy vote from the wider party. He just might pull it off.
