A Terrorist is a Terrorist is a Terrorist
The BBC Governors, in their no doubt infinite wisdom, have ruled that BBC journalists should use the word "terrorist" with great caution, backing existing BBC guidance that the word can be "a barrier to understanding". Journalists will be advised on the difference between a "terrorist" and acts of terrorism. Can I just ask one question? If they admit there are such things as "acts of terrorism", who exactly commits them? Freedom fighters you say? Ah, I see. I think the world has gone mad.

Given that members of your party used to routinely refer to Nelson Mandela as a terrorist I don't think this is quite as clear cut as you make out.
