Iain, I probably missed the detailed criteria by which a "top" blog is discerned from among a crowd of contenders, but, seriously, Guido Fawkes and Old Holborn coming top? In both cases, blog entries tend to be be little more than schoolboy ad hominem attacks, followed by an open invitation to every fruitloop to comment, often in pornographic and probably libellous terms. I'm not sure if you have braved the comments of one of Guido's posts on (for example) Gordon Brown, but it's not an edifying read.
It's interesting that Charlotte Gore is in that list. Wouldn't she be better in the Liberal Democrat category?
No. She resigned from the LibDems and now describes herself as a Libertarian.
Bravo to Guido, OH, Mr Puddlecote & Mrs Raccoon. Have really enjoyed this year and bloody good fun reading all of them as often as poss. Will have a look at the others but brilliant. Cheers, Iain.
WV: explud!! - think we can all defn that one! 'More tissues, please', like 1 gargantuan release? UUrrgghh, just offended myself.
@Thorpe - go on, have a chuckle, you might like it.
WV: aliker - nope, not going there!
Looking at the top 30, I think there are some very promising signs in there that newer blogs are making their mark. Corrugated Soundbite, for example, is getting better and better with time. The same can be said of Rantin' Rab, And There Was Me Thinking and Captain Ranty. As for the likes of Anna Raccoon, Charlotte Gore and Obnoxio The Clown, they remain brilliant - but Obo's got to be in a class of his own. Swear blogging seems a slightly dated format in my view, but I think he's one of few who keeps the format fresh. ;-)
Although there are two mysteries. Firstly, how on earth did Constantly Furious only fall 6 places this year? If I remember, he stopped blogging 3 months ago. I can only assume he must have a large fan base. The second is how on earth Boatang & Demetriou are in it at all. Be warned Iain, Demetriou will probably be along soon to complain about the blog getting a link here. He's been going round several blogs telling them to remove the B&D blog from their blogrolls. Apparently, a blogroll implies agreement with everything that person says and a "country club mentality". Except there's no O in country when they say it...
