Clegg Website Launched

Shane Greer has the STORY. However, he's missed the fact that the website is run and hosted by Richard Allan, Nick Clegg's predecessor as MP for Sheffield Hallam. Clegg and Huhne have both made a mistake tosay by prevaricating over whether they're going to stand. Of course they are. They know they're going to and so do we. They need to show a hunger for the job and should get on out there and show it.

The boys shouldn't underestimate Julia Goldsworthy.

I think they want first to show some respect for Ming by not being too hasty, and second collecting the support of seven Lib Dem MPs before making the public announcement. I've heard, that they've already approached some colleagues.

If we are to understand that Ming is making the case for Julia Goldsworthy, then I think the LibDems need a sense check. Ming, having been hounded out by the criticism of his age, seems to have swung to the opposite extreme - in going for the youngest English MP! She may be a fine MP - but at 29, how has she possibly had time to create her own political "vision"? She's 12 years younger than Cameron - whose appointment as leader of the Tories was thought to be a very bold move given his youth. And she's 13 years younger than Dave Miliband - who was generally thought to need a few more years before he could be a contender for Labour leader.

So the question journalists should be asking is not "Are you going to stand?" but "How's your website? Any planned maintenance?"

Chris Huhne may not have launched his campaign, but he has launched his website: http://chris2win.prai.co.uk/news/85.html

Hmm interesting
The issue is around preparedness i think - CH was going to launch yesterday but that looked hasty and risked looking like it was pre-prepared. I genuinely think Nick is taking time to speak to friends, family and colleagues, and some of us wanted to get on with the drumming up of support for him...
I'm glad Richard Allan has headed this up and taking a lead on this - I know he speaks to Nick a lot - this website www.nickclegg.com seems a good way of generating stuff.

Knowing your irrational hatred of the Lib Dems they will no doubt do exactly the opposite of whatever you advise.

They're just trying to see who blinks first, after the demise of David Davis from the position of leadership frontrunner not that long ago.

Ask William Pitt the Younger.

Politics needs youth!
