I know nothing about Rugby. I rarely watch it. But I did watch some of the game this afternoon. John Howard, Rolf Harris, Dame Edna, Sir Les, Lucas Neill, Malcolm Fraser, Kevin Rudd, Harry Kewell... your boys took a helluva beating! Now back to the West Ham v Aston Villa commentary...
Just shows you the underdog's can win - thanks to the internet its already been possible to share sports man like commiserations with the convicts.

ReplyDeleteIn 80 minutes the ball must have been in play for about 25% of the time and the disgisting state of the scrums is blamed on Rugby League, which is much faster!
I prefer my "Shane Warne, Donn Bradman, Ian Thorpe, Cathy Freeman, Evonne Goolagong, Lleyton Hewitt, John Howard, your boys took a hell of a beating!" but what a wonderful day. Gordon Brown will live to regret this decision and I will enjoy watching that.

ReplyDeleteThe Australians are obsessed with sport. My sister’s husband is an Aussie and I will never forget their wedding reception, which was held the weekend after their marriage. My brother-in-law was the apple of his father’s eye. However, his father had tickets for an Australia - South Africa test match, which was held on the same day. There was no contest. The father went to the match, rather than his only son’s wedding reception. I was delighted when he came back half way through the reception. I asked him if he’d changed his mind. “No” he replied “We were losing so I left.”
