Prescott Losing Support of 'Old' Labour?

But back to the real world. This is a post from Old Labour Councillor Bob Piper (pic) on his excellent blog (which has developed a worrying obsession with yours truly of late, but that's another story). If Prescott is losing the support of people like Bob, he really does need to smell the coffee...

"John Prescott rounds on his critics. Is this the supreme example of taking the piss? He should have been with me trying to get people out to vote last Thursday if he wanted some critics to round on. People who have voted Labour for ever were complaining about Charles Clarke and the Home Office... but it was as nothing compared to the bile they poured on the head of our venerable Deputy Prime Minister. Badmouthing Heseltine is not the answer. Labour people knew Heseltine was a tart without having to be told by John Prescott. In every other job that I can think of, shagging your junior staff in works time and on works premises usually means dismissal, and that's what everyone else knows too."

Bob, I agree with every word. Every word.

  2. Er, no, in a word.

I used to be a projectionist years ago and one of the places I worked at was the ABC Ardwick in Manchester. It's called the Apollo these days, but I'll bet that the projection box is the same.

Anyway, the box had a fair sized formica table in it and two of us had a bet to see how many usherettes we could shag over it during our respective shifts. I scored three in as many months, but lost to the other bloke who shafted five.

Did the management know? Probably, but they had more sense than to get involved in 1970s Manchester.

What is the point of this tale? Just to demonstrate that not all of us are given to pandering to curious ideas about what management should and should not be allowed to do.

  3. You know, in a way, I actually feel a little sorry for the Old Labour types like Bob. He's seen his party sell its soul to a bunch incompetent, media-obsessed, control freaks simply in the pursuit of power. It must be quite disheartening to watch your principles being flushed down the bog by the likes of Tony, Prescott and co, just so the can keep their nice jobs with comfy offices and even comfier secretaries.

It must be even worse when the party thought police are used to stifle any criticism of the nomenclatura, especially when the electorate feel no such pressure to keep schtum.

I just pray to the ancient gods of Albion that the Tories aren't making the same mistake with DC.

Aha! The coffee's kicked in at last. Normal service will now be resumed:

Haha! NuLabour's crap! Nayanya! Your going to looooooose!

  4. Less of the f***ing 'old' you cheeky sod.

Remittance Man... Blair isn't flushing principles down the pan; he never promised us socialism, just reheated tired old Tory principles the same ones as Cameron is busy reheating for your consumption. The problem you will have is the same ones Labour has with Blair. Neither of them are Labour or Conservative. They are both Liberal modernisers, up to their necks in managerialism. At least I know that... the problem for most Tories is that you are plunging into the abyss and cannot even see it. It's OK for Iain, he's looking to dip his snout in the trough; priniciples don't come in to it.
