STOP PRESS: Lamb Rules Himself Out

Norman Lamb has just ruled himself out of standing for the leadership of the LibDems on North Norfolk Radio. Wise man.

That notwithstanding, he is still stoking the furnace by claiming he will resign if Kennedy does not stand down.

Yes, that's true, but on the other hand, shouldn't all the 11 signatories of the letter offer their resignation anyway?

Good point. That's right; they have no confidence in CK, so why haven't they all resigned? Some seem to be hedging their bets, though. Vince Cable has been trenchant in his criticism of CK but has stopped short of resigning. I don't think there is anything to be gained by them hanging on. Even if by some amazing miracle CK holds on to the job, he'll be wanting to get rid of them, anyway.
On a lighter note, I wonder at the value of this prize they all seem intent on getting. Who in their right minds would want to lead the LibDems?
I must add that it is wonderful watching another party tear itself apart in this way. I recall those bad old days when the BBC spoke with mock-exasperation about 'Tory splits'. Let's see how the LibDems cope.

Surely the letter they are sending IS their resignation letter?

Expecting any coherence from the tinfoil hat wearing brigade is a waste of time. Just enjoy this poisonous cabal self-implode/
