Vote: European Elections Poll

I've created a short 5 question survey to see how my blog readers intend to vote in the European Elections. In particular I'm interested to see how many people intend to vote differently in the Euros to a General Election.

  1. Sorry, Iain. You've managed every 1 man and his dog outfit but forgot No2EU - Yes to Democracy, the anti-EU but pro-trade union platform backed by the RMT rail union, the Socialist Party and the Communist Party (among others). As a proud red and unreconstructed Marxist (sans beard) they will be receiving my vote.

  2. Will be very interested to see the UKIP percentage!

  3. Bear in mind that this is a Conservative blog so results will be skewed.

    I'll be voting UKIP anyway.

  4. Tsk. You haven't given me the option that I will exercise at the Euros -- spoiling my ballot.

As you're well aware, this is quite different from not voting; the latter can be put down to apathy, whereas the former is a conscious act displaying disapproval at all of the options on offer.

Any chance that you'll amend your survey options, or will it remain as disenfranchising as the real vote?

  7. Now that Dave has kept his word on the EPP I have no problem voting Conservative at all elections.

Personally I think UKIP have done themselves no favours by the behaviour of many of their candidates elected at the last elections.

PS What happened to the orange one ?

  8. I am voting Conservative in the European Election and Conservative in the General Election.

Labour have ruined this country and sold out to the EU! Voting for silly parties in one election will not help get rid of Labour!

Ironically if UKIP had half a brain they would wait till a Tory government was in power and vote for the Tories in the 2010 General Election and wait to bring Europe up again as they would have more traction on it!

UKIP = Failing to oust Labour!

Not what Winston Churchill would have wanted! Yes I have seen those posters and think they are rubbish! Very desperate! LoL!

  9. Given the fantastic deal negotiated by Blair when UK has EU presidency, will labour be explaining why a country which cannot afford such largesse will continue to subsidise those that can?

  11. Hear, hear to Patrick - I agree re spoiled votes - at least they know you care and are not sunk in apathy. Might also serve to bring to light postal voting fraud - if someone appears to have voted twice.
Just been watching an item on debt clock in NY. The Tories should do something similar - people are scared of debt and it's simple but eloquent.

  12. Yes, Iain, I believe the Libertarian Party is fielding candidates at the GE next year. There isn't an option for them, or even for stating 'other'.

    I left that Q blank. ;-)

Apart from that, good poll. It'll be interesting to see the results.

  13. I shall vote UKIP, as I cannot vote for Dan Hannan.

We have to reclaim England for the English.

  14. First past the post is 'illegal' - FFS. Is it illegal to say sod off? Oh, err, hmm, illegal! Really. Well, i'm truly flabberghasted. First past the post is illegal - why? Why is it? I don't mind laws banning shit & stuff for some kind of logic, however skewed, but how can first past the post be wrong when everyone knows the rules? Err... my head's gonna explode - cheerio!

  15. Do hope the CONS. don't try the "were going to reform" con again. It won't work.Enough is enough! The EU is one of many gravy trains we can't afford anymore.Remember there's a lot more Con expenses stories to come-they're not all Lab.

  16. Where is the 'Spoiling my ballot paper' option Iain?

Here in Edinburgh that is my only real option.

I'm a long term Labour supporter who wants Gordon Brown out in order to avoid a huge Tory majority in 2010.

I believe a small Tory majority or hung parliament is not an unlikely scenario under Alan Johnson.

This would be better for the country.
