Quote of the Day: Shahid Malik

Sky News presenter: Can I ask why a £800 massage chair is so important to you?

Shahid Malik: You see, I'd have more respect for you if you were honest about the figures. You know full well it is £730.

  1. Malik's gone. Who is next to face the chop?

  2. Thanks Iain, that made me laugh.

    PAY IT BACK MALIK!

  3. Ha, that's brilliant.

At least he's good with figures, maybe some other MPs should have employed him to proof read their claims

  4. I want to live in there special world or be on the drugs they are on. What a wonderful, sureal place to be. Looks a bit silly now though as he has had to stand down. They are trying everything. Today it is come out on the offensive and blame the media. I hope he enjoys the chair!!

  5. Shahid Malik - it is alleged - has been at it for years; before he was an MP. I hope the inquiry will look at his expense claims whilst he was a commissioner at the Commission for Racial Equality.

    ReplyDelete
  6. he's just resigned so he'll have plenty of time to sit in it

    ReplyDelete
  7. He has just stepped down as Justice Minister, pending an inquiry according to Politics Home. Good. An unashamed and arrogant trougher.

    ReplyDelete
  8. They just don't get it do they?

What's the weather like on Planet Malik I wonder?

  9. *collapses in hysterical laughter*

    CLASSIC!

  10. Yes, but have you seen his 24 year old wife? I'd appreciate a massage chair to alleviate my bad back too.

  12. Almost as amusing as Lembit Opik.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Superb. Better get him some polish to keep his brass neck gleeming.

  14. Things are moving so fast. Malik, a serial snout in the trough is toast - suspended. Malik has been milking it for years. But I guess The Prophet says it's ok to con the infidel.

No chance of Blinky and his Missus going is there?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Particularly disappointing, but not entirely unpredictable was the nauseous attack line he used of "I wonder why you and The Telegraph are picking on me?".

    ReplyDelete
  16. Reminds me of the Yes Minister episode where Jim Hacker refutes a claim that department costs had risen by 10% as they had only gone up by 9.97%.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Two things:

    1. Malik would have needed/wanted that chair regardless of if he was an MP, so it is not a valid claim, regardless of the price.
    2. The disingenuous throwing back of disrespect to the questioner is something I have seen before...anyone care to remind me where that kind of mindset comes from?

Malik is not fit for office, for he knows not what the term "justice" means outside his own narrow interpretation.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Wow. One for the other parties to put in the election leaflet!

    ReplyDelete
  19. It was attention to detail like that that got him where he is today

  20. IS £100 a week much of a subsidy in Dewsbury? I know in my part of Greater Manchester you can fairly easily rent an OK house for £395-450 per month.

As to the Keens - clearly they need to resign *as MPs*.

    ReplyDelete
  21. To ask the Prime Minister if, in the light of the number of new vacancies in the government, he has considered reshuffling his cabinet?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Have just looked at Shahid Malik's web site.

This carries the slogan New Labour, New Britain.

He should have added a third. 'New Television'

    ReplyDelete
  23. He gave an appallingly aggressive performance. It's an unbelievable mistake for an MP to go on the offensive over dodgy payments at a time like this.

He'll no doubt promptly be cleared, "cos it's all within the rules, innit?"

I've just realised I want the next Speaker to be the Devils Kitchen. Imagine the joy of hearing MPs continuously sworn at. After all, it's pretty much what the nation is doing privately anyway; we may as well formalise the practice.

    "Order, order, you thieving c****!"

I'm backing him one million per cent. Oops, he's gone. Never mind, only another six hundred to go.

    ReplyDelete
  25. He's played the "race card" already. He wants to know why he's been "singled out."

    ReplyDelete
  26. They just don't get it, do they? When I read about TV packages costing thousands, I could weep. Ours cost £25 for a 2nd hand one off ebay and even then, we struggled to buy it. Still, I felt we were okay, because we hadn't taken on debts to spoil ourselves. I am tired of hearing how it was the fault of all of us for being a shopping society, that the country is now in such debt. We are not like that. We both work and pay our taxes.
But this is the last straw. The British Parliament is filled with parasites, sucking us dry. We struggle with our 104% increases in council taxes, with toll roads, keeping out 15 year old car on the road so we can get to work [no buses to our place of work]. I don't know we can do. I am disgusted. What's the point of anything? I might as well take out huge loans, spend it on holidays [we haven't had one for 20 years], nice furniture, new clothes and beauty parlours, then go bankrupt for a few years and start again. I'd get more respect for it and if I had lots of money, parasites like Mandelson would take my concerns seriously, rather than dismissing us as scummy racist working class muck.

But if that flower with base infection meet,
The basest weed outbraves his dignity:
    For sweetest things turn sourest by their deeds;
Lilies that fester smell far worse than weeds.

  28. No Tim, he hasn't gone - he is on _temporary_ suspension (unbelievably) and can apparently return once the fuss has died down.

Amazing really that this twisting, devious, criminally-minded Man on the Make can be Minister of Justice. It says a lot for NuLab that he is even an MP, let alone a Minister. Poor Nye Bevan must be turning in his grave.

I hope the Taxpayer's Alliance campaign to bring private prosecutions gains ground, since it appears clear that the police are going to do nothing, presumably on Home Office instructions.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I think "singling out" is an issue.

To see the Daily Mail, owned by the tax-dodging Lord Rothermere (Private Eyes, passim) go after anyone is amazing.

And to the Daily Telegraph, owned by the really weird Barclay brothers, lead an attack based on landlord tenant relations, even worse (remember Sark?).

And while one of the worst cases so far has been of the married Tory MPs Andrew Mackay and Julie Kirkbride. But in fact this story was, to its credit, pushed by an internal Conservative Party review. The Telegraph said nothing, perhaps because Ms. Kirkbride was a senior former employee there.

There are chosen targets here. And to suppose the Barclay Bros have no say is to ignore the way they have interfered with, and destroyed, each newspaper they have used.

  30. Global Peace and Unity conference held at the Excel Centre in Docklands in 2008. This footage was not released by NuLabour and I wonder why? Could it be because he stated that:

"In 1997 we got our first Muslim MP. In 2001 we had 2 Muslim MPs. In 2005 we had 4 Muslim MPs. In shallah(If Allah wills) 2009/10 we'll have 8 Muslim MPs. In 2014 we'll have 16 Muslim MP's. At this rate the whole Parliament will be Muslim. But just to say in case there are journalists here today that is not my objective. But you know we've got 4 Muslim MPs, there should be 20 Muslim MPs in Parliament and Inshallah, very shortly we'll see that. And I'm confident as Britain's first Muslim minister that, Inshallah, in the next 30 years or so, we'll see a Prime Minister in this country who happens to share my faith"

  31. If he had a massage chair in both his constituency home and London home (for medical reasons), then it might be appropriate (but he clearly hasn't)

  33. Have you seen the little piggies
    Crawling in the dirt
And for all the little piggies
    Life is getting worse
Always having dirt to play around in.

Have you seen the bigger piggies
    In their starched white shirts
You will find the bigger piggies
    Stirring up the dirt
Always have clean shirts to play around in.

In their sties with all their backing
They don't care what goes on around
In their eyes there's something lacking
What they need's a damn good whacking.

    Everywhere there's lots of piggies
    Living piggy lives
You can see them out for dinner
    With their piggy wives
Clutching forks and knives to eat their bacon.

doodle-doo-doo-doo - another one bites the dust ...

  37. You're right Paul, but you also don't mention that Lord Rothermere, despite living in a mansion in Wiltshire, raising his family here and spending nearly all his time right here in the UK is a (can it really be true??) registered non-domicile for tax purposes! This was under challenge from various quarters so the Inland Revenue made a special arrangement for him, in secret, naturally. It has only come out because of investigations by Private Eye.

For those who don't know, Lord Rothermere owns the Daily Mail group and is one of the richest men in the country.

Shum humbug over at the Mail shurely.

As for the Torygraph - well, to be fair, they do seem to have been pretty even-handed in their onslaughts and are doing I think a very good job. It's just a shame that the rest of the media are focusing primarily on NuLab targets, but I suppose they are the government.

We could do with a top 10 egregious offenders, would you fancy publishing one Iain?

  38. With MPS such as Malik the Muslims of the UK don't need enemies. The BNP must be laughing all the way to the ballot box at his antics. He should also have realised that if he wanted an ipod he should have become a member of the Weslh assembly rather than a MP.

  39. what a chump!

Who cares what newspapers do. I, as a taxpayer, am not funding them!DesperateLiberal: "For those who don't know, Lord Rothermere owns the Daily Mail group and is one of the richest men in the country."

Not paying required tax IS stealing taxpayer's money.

  46. Did you hear Malik on World at One being questioned about the snazzy TV? He simply didn't 'get it', the greedy little git.

    ReplyDelete
  47. "honest about the figures" ? ! !

This from a man who says his expenses are one million percent by the book.

just based on those statements he shouldn't be left in charge of a Fish Supper shop, let alone be a govt minister.

PS Is he still be paid whilst he's on gardening leave ?

  49. The FT is reporting that Malik was supended by Brown, after Brown had discussed it with Jack Straw and Gus O'Donnell. So why is the BBC reporting that Malik has "stepped down", with the implication that it is a voluntary act on Malik's part? (I don't know why I bother to ask the question, really, I know it's just the usual BBC leftward slant).

    ReplyDelete
  50. In all of this whole mess, the thing that concerns me so much, is that IF the excuse is that they just could not work out/understand the expenses process, how on earth can they understand the complexities, facts, figures and strategies within their own dept - ie; NHS,Defence,Education to make the right decisions.
Don't forget,Darling is ADAMANT that the economy will be growing by the end of this year and he can't ALLEGEDLY complete his expenses correctly,so how can he understand the complexities of budget forecasts?
As for Straw, who himself admits that numbers are not his strong point, how can he understand the crime figures etc?
    Beggars belief.

  51. Having been one who has had dealings with the oily little shit that is Malik, seeing him in the doo doo has really made my day. I do hope this is nothing trivial. His local living arrangements have long been the subject of speculation, as has his so called landlord. Now I know I`m biased but me thinks there is a bit more to squeeze out of this `un..

Due to boundary changes its unlikely that he would be able to hang on to the Dewsbury seat. This is a real bonus though..

    ReplyDelete
  52. i met this guy at a pakistani event in london.he is a very nasty piece of work steeped in hatred.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Malik's letter to the Fees Office is a resigning matter.

What sort of person writes, In view of the above and from a natural justice perspective I feel a justifiable exception would be the fairest manner to deal with the current situation", over being denied the right to claim £2,500 of taxpayer's money for a 40" plasma TV, DVD player and home cinema system?

Oh, I know, a self-serving, socialist, "I know my rights", total and utter plonker who thinks because he is elected an MP he can sneer down his nose in quasi-legal language at officials in the House of Commons who ought probably to touch their forelocks and maybe kneel when he comes in the room.

Natural justice? I know what sort of "natural justice" he'd get round the back of Dewsbury market tonight if he dared show his face.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Two points here.

This is not just a breach of the Ministerial Code, if Malik has been benefitting from a cheap rent it is a donation in kind and as such declarable under the Political Parties and Referendums Act. Failure to do so is a criminal offence.

Second, Minsiters who are "reshuffled" out of their jobs receive half of the extra annual pay they get as Ministers as "redundancy". If he is going because he is a thieving bastard, then he really shouldn't get this.

    Constant Vigilance!

  55. take every one to court let them prove their innocence we all know they are guilty thats why bills keep rising &rising we pay for them
PS has hanging been abolished what a shame

  56. IF you or i did what these greedy
B s do and you worked for a firm you would be straight in court just a question WHY ARE THEY NOT ????

    ReplyDelete
  57. "prove their innocence" eh?

True, this is what happens to many people charged by the police, but it is not actually the British Way.

Look, and IQ of 100 is average. That means half the people are below average.

But that does not stop them posting on blogs or giving idiotic interviews to journalists.
