The Supreme Court has found against the three ex Labour MPs who appealed a court of appeal decision that they should face the criminal courts over allegedly fiddling their expenses. The former MPs, Jim Devine, David Chaytor and Elliott Morley, had argued that their case should be dealt with by Parliament.
I don't think the Supreme Court verdict should come as a surprise to anyone. Just think of the outrage there would have been if the decision had gone the other way.
We now await the verdict of Harriet Harman...
Great news - hope the punishment is fair and balanced!
ReplyDeleteAwaiting the verdict of Harriet Harman - some sort of play by Sam Beckett?
ReplyDeleteJust as long, tedious and pointless, I'd say.
too!! and you a publisher
ReplyDeletethe verdict of Harman? Not to forget, the Court Of Public Opinion, as well...
ReplyDeleteShouldn't that be to face criminal courts?
ReplyDeleteI feel a little sorry for them because I think they have been made patsies.
Ordinarily I would think that Morley should be tried due to the outrageous nature of his claim, but like with all three of them, I am not satisfied that any jury will be genuinely impartial due to the lynch-mob, McCarthyist, and hysterical reporting of the natter.
But then, I've always been soft.
When are the other 600 odd going to face the same punishment?
ReplyDelete"...hysterical reporting of the natter."?!
ReplyDeleteThat'll teach me to buy cheap keyboards from Tesco, with the letters rubbing off after about 6 months.
Mind you, I could do a 'Colin Eldridge' and pretend that I intended to use 'natter' all along...
Surely the verdict that matters most is that of Mrs Bercow.
ReplyDeleteI was surprised not to have seen any statement from her so far today.
The real decision will be that of the trial judge who will pronounce just how long these twisting, cheating, lying Hoons will spend rotting in a cell...
ReplyDeleteI suppose that we are funding the legal aid defences of this gang?
