Not sure why A Tangled Web is an NI blog. With writers from US and UK, we do not accept this narrow classification
ReplyDeleteAre you located in N Ireland?
ReplyDeleteI can only assume that when your blog was submittted to the TP Directory they put Northern Ireland as the country.
Congrats to Splinty!
ReplyDeleteIain.
ReplyDeleteI am but to borrow a phrase from the Duke of Wellington being born in a stable does not make one a horse. I shall advise my Californian and East Coast writers that they are Norn Irish.
David, I think Ian might buy your argument more readily if your US/UK posts weren't liberally interspersed with posts about the trivia of Northern Ireland politics (and your personal fixation with the "TUV"). Would the Huffington Post be taken seriously if every other post was about the finer details of the politics of Rhode Island? Your personal fixation on Northern Ireland makes your blog a Northern Ireland one with knobs on.

ReplyDeleteI hate to break the news to you but no one with any wit takes the Huffington Post seriously.
Secondly. I'm not bothered if Iain buys it or not, we are not a Northern Irish blog.
Third, I write about lots of issues and this year, for example, have covered matters relating to Israel more than I have matters relating to NI. Does that make ATW an Israeli blog?
Fourth, I am a member of TUV, just as Iain as a member of the Conservative. So what?
Finally, not sure how dealing with issues such as the efficacy of government, the issue of terrorism, the issue of political leadership is "trivia". If you want trivia, check out Northern Ireland's leading blog.
Apart from that, you're spot on.
I moved from HP to Daily Beast only because I was fed up with constantly being ordered to submit myself to constant devotion to Huffington ("most upwardly mobile Greek since Icarus") through Facebook when all I want is to quickly scan what's getting Yanks' knickers in a twist. But with DB getting its commentary from some tart named Meghan McCann (obviously related to the Senator as qualifications have nought to do with it) I'm sticking with Drudge.
