Thanks Dave!
Well thanks a lot, Mr Speaker! At PMQs this lunchtime David Cameron was about to quote from TALKING TO A BRICK WALL by Deborah Mattinson, which my company, Biteback, published last week, when he was prevented from doing so by Speaker Bercow. "I don't think we'll bother with that," said Bercow. Cameron then got up and said "I was only trying to boost sales." And don't think I am not appreciative, Prime Minister!
Judging by the event at the RSA last night, sales are going quite well. Blackwells sold out well before the end of the evening.
You can read more about the book HERE and buy it HERE!
What is "BBC Democracy" when it's at home?
ReplyDeleteAnd no thanks to the stupid, sanctimonious dwarf!
ReplyDeleteinteresting that not once in the interminable brown years did our brave speaker pull up the son of the manse when he refused to answer the most straightforward of questions, yet within weeks of a conservative government he finds he can tell cameron how he should answer a question.
ReplyDeletebercow is a self-publicing, arrogant piece of work totally unfit to do the job. his naked bias is a disgrace to parliament.
I have to agree with sinosimon. Bercow is getting a bit above himself. I hope Douglas Carswell is sharpening his long knife.
ReplyDeleteBercow's dismissal of Cameron was outrageously rude.
No it wasn't - PMQ's should be for answering questions about policy decisions not promoting books...
ReplyDeleteImagine if the boot had been on the other foot and Blair or Brown had done that! What would you have said then? If your bank balance wouldn't have been affected?
Jesus Yvonne, can you not spot a tongue in a cheek when you see one? Lighten up, love.
ReplyDeleteWot no links to the forthcoming memoirs of the third man, shortly to be followed by those of the first man (Blair) and sometime later the second man (Brown).
ReplyDeleteI think they will regret keeping the current speaker. He is far to big for his boots. What about fixed terms for speaker as well. Change of government change of speaker.
ReplyDeleteHe would never have spoken to Brown like he spoke to Cameron showing his BBC style bias.
Eoghan - BBC Democracy Live covers the Commons, Lords, select committees, Westminster Hall, Scottish Parliament, Welsh Assembly and NI Assembly - as well as European Parliament. You can find it here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/democracylive/hi/default.stm
ReplyDeleteIain - please excuse me for the "ad" but hope your readers will find it useful.
Iain, where can I get a copy of this book? Went to Waterstones in Holborn but they said that none of their stores were stocking it!
ReplyDeleteRyan, I am afraid you were not given correct information by Waterstone's.
ReplyDeleteThat’s not true. The book is core stock listed and available to order from all branches - many have gone out to individual branches already.
You can order it direct from the Biteback Publishing website or Amazon too.
How odd, Iain. Perhaps the guy in Waterstones was a NuLabour sympathiser. He looked like one. Thanks for the reply.
