Podcast: An Hour With Michael Foot
Several people have asked if I would put online the hour long interview I did with Michael Foot to mark his ninetieth birthday. It's in two parts.
Part 2:
The interview was for a book related programme called PLANET POLITICS I used to present for OneWord Radio.
The interviews are available on a CD. If you would like a copy, please contact Tribune Magazine.
This is why I like your blog Iain. When you dish out dirt, you do it proportionally and like an adult. I didn't think Michael Foot was a good politician at all, but he was a good orator and a good friend so I hear. Good to see the right giving credit where credit is due.
I can only hope our comrades on the left will be even-handed when similar events happen on the right of political sphere.
What is it with people in the UK nowadays, whenever someone dies they immediately become a saint. Even BBC broadcasters who die in a wardrobe with a plastic bag over their heads are "wonderful" people. Michael Foot was a Marxist who would have wrecked the UK in the same way as GB has.
That bloody fool was wrong about almost anything you can think of. A true tax and spender, disarmer and communist sympathiser, who in office as S of S for Employment was guaranteed to grant anything the unions asked for.
And now we are supposed not to say anything bad about this buffoon? Include me out!
An hour with Michael Foot ...
ReplyDeleteDon't you love us any more, Iain? He may have been a decent chap, but he was an inflexible socialist windbag. Why wish this torture on your friends?
Just listened to the podcasts. Insightful but the man talked a lot and his responses were far tooooo long.
ReplyDeleteNevertheless, a true red labour man.
You were born to late Iain. I would dearly love to have heard your hour with Stalin.
ReplyDelete"Joseph Stalin has died at the ripe old age of 75. Whatever one's politics, he was a true political great".
