The LibLabCon Election Slogan as Perfected by the LibDems

This is the LibDem election slogan...

‘Change That Works For You. Building A Fairer Britain’.

See what they've done there? Combined the Tory and Labour election slogans into one. Isn't that what people hate about politics currently? No originality, and all three parties eating off the same electoral carcass.

  1. A slogan that works for you. Replicating the promises of ALL* parties in a spirit of fairness

    (* except the BNP)

  2. A load of mendacious tosh.

A pox on 'em all and lets hope they come down with E-Coli.

  3. At least it's clear from your current offensive against all things LibDem (a party that in the past you have said you have some good feeling towards) that the Tories in no way regard the LDP threat as "over". In fact, I would guess that this is all directed from above, so one imagines that Tory private polling in LibDem held seats is not going well.

  4. Sums up the libdems perfectly, I'm surprised they didn't add "whilst protecting front line services because it's the right thing to do, we won't let you down" bla bla bla.

  5. For once, I have to agree with Dale. It's a terrible slogan, completely vacuous and just makes us LibDems sound like the other two establishment vacuous parties. I hope we didn't pay anyone to come up with this rubbish for us.

Incidentally, behind the times Dale ;-) might like to look at the announcement of the new slogan a month ago and note the near-universally negative comments:

  6. Just shows how weak (© E. Balls) both slogans are. ‘Get the malevolent incompetent mendacious baskets out’ has more flavour.

  7. Has to be the worst slogan ever. So unoriginal. If I were the Lib Dems I'd highlight my best policy "Earn Less Than £10K - Pay No Tax." Simple message and people will like it. If people think they're better off with them they'll vote for them! No-one else if offering tax cuts for the poorest.

  8. Translation:

"We'll buy your vote. Crushing success and self responsibility*"

    * so you can kid yourself you care

  9. Mr Despairing - when the LDs come up with a slogan thats a load of cock, I think its fair to highlight it.

And when a PPC proudly proclaims she supports labour i think that is an interesting point to mention as well.

  10. My reaction exactly. It's a combo-slogan.

I think this will back fire on them.

How can they be both Labour and Tory.

The change we want is not to have politicians using fairness as an excuse to raise taxes.

  11. I hate slogans altogether, they're always going to sound slippery and meaningless, which is why as a voter even before I became an activist I tended to examine the policies rather than the soundbites of the parties.

But even having said that, come on, at least ours isn't diametrically opposed in meaning to the name of our party like yours is! What does the word "conservative" mean again? Oh yeah. That was it. Averse to change. *slow clap for the tories*

  12. It's like something out of a Monty Python sketch...

    "we want change"
    "and to be fair"
    "right"
    "so we stand for fairness"
    "and change"
    "right, right, fairness and change"
    "and proportional representation"
"fairness, change and proportional representation? bit of a mouthful, isn't it?"
"but it's the one thing we stand for"
    "it's three things"
"it's the three things we stand for"

  13. That is a really f**king stupid slogan.

clegg's lost a lot of weight. not surprised leading that rabble.

  16. Seems a perfectly reasonable slogan. I cannot see much difference between any of them!

  17. You have a choice between the Peoples' Front of Judea and the Judean Peoples' Front or the Judean Popular Peoples' Front.

  18. @LibCync: It's a terrible slogan, completely vacuous and just makes us LibDems sound like the other two establishment vacuous parties.

That's OK, the LibDems are like the other two establishment vacuous parties. :-)

  19. Here's my Labour / Limp Dim / Tory slogan

    Never, never, again.

  20. A vacuous slogan for a vacuous party, a perfect example of the lilabcon singularity.
Power for the sake of power, a three party triumvirate so used to enjoying the monopoly of shared power that their differences have become as fake as their slogans and petty disputes.
The voter is being asked to vote for a three faced Westminster village closed society and self reinforcing bubble where the democratic process becomes the enemy of the 'professional politician'.
The seperation of the ruled and the rulers is becoming clear, and this it seems is the ultimate goal, the removal of the electorate as the ultimate arbitor and decider of national destiny, it seems that the political classes have decided amongst themselves the general aims and socio political direction of the nation and the role of the electorate is simply to give the appearance of democratic accountability.
We have become the tools and servants of the political classes, our democracy has been subverted and stolen from us.
Look the structure of the EU anti democratic budding state for a glimpse of what is coming our way soon via the liblabcon, a world of lies and deceit and double crosses with empty and false promises the order of the day.

We live in a land where spin and lies are common place, where rigged reports, arrogant politicians and biased media manipulate the truth to serve secret ends, lies become the truth and opinion becomes fact.

  21. Tory defects to Lib Dems shocker.
    Dale? Hello? Hello??

  22. Lol!

A partnership working towards future slogans that are fair for all this year.

Someone should come up with a pic'n'mix web based slogan generator.

  23. Or how about "Vote for us because although we've no more clue than the others we're very nice people."

As a Liberal candidate many years ago I coined a slogan after being told I could not put the boot in a particularly nept Labour council.

"Vote Liberal and keep the politics out of politics." That went down like a lead balloon with the regional party.

  24. Members of the public perceive that Labour and the Conservatives are similar, and instead of presenting themselves as an alternative, the Lib Dems have opted to say to the public that they are more similar to Labour and the Conservatives than Labour and the Conservatives are to each other.

  25. It seemed at one time that the Lib Dems would make good gains in Labour's back yard, but that seems a long way off now.
    Clegg is a bloody disaster!

    ReplyDelete
  26. "a particuarly nept" party.
Has a nice sound to it, nept.
    A bit like gruntled.

My suggestion for the LD slogan:
    Filling a much-needed gap.

  27. Where's the beef! All these slogans are vacuous. Who are they aimed at? Is it the proles who are unable to read a manifesto? I fail to see their point though they obviously must "work" or the parties would not bother "inventing" them.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I think I'm repeating something I read on political betting

On radio 4 just now, Nick Clegg saying in a hung parliament that he would let the largest party try to find a mandate.

Then he basically said that he would use the budget to overthrow that party if they didn't get what they want and that the Lib Dems and labour would then have a right to form a Government but never mentioned another election.

  29. When you posted yesterday (and I commented at 12.39 how dreary the other two were)I thought that that it was a joke and that in jest you had joined the Tory and Labour slogans; only later in the day hearing a news bulletin did I realise they had indedd adopted this inane guff!

  30. Doesn't quite have the same ring as :-
    Ein Reich,
    Ein Volk,
    Ein Fuhrer.

But then again, better to plaigarise then have original thought. Originality can be dangerous, shows the dangerous trait of independance and free thought. And that can't be Lib-Dem, can it?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Slogan?
    How about-
    REMEMBER THATCHER.....

  32. Knowing LibDems who control my borough townhall, they are all things to all people. They face East, West, North and South at the same time, Talk cutting debt first in one constituency and postponing the debt cuts in another. In computer Programming, one can concatenate strings, Libdems have done just that! They will go back to their constituencies and prepare for a hung parliamnent. Vote for them is a vote for delusion.

  33. haha can't blame the Lib Dems, they had to start somewhere

  34. Actually I prefer, 'Forward, Not Backward'. This I believe was slogan used by one Homer Simpson.
