I don't think all these bullying jokes about Gordon are very fair. He may seem harsh to wussy politicians but in the "olive oil" business you do what has to be done.
btw, @boggartblog, it is VERY important how a PM treats "the little guys/gals". Very. I have observed that those who are "beastly to waiters" etc are basically not to be trusted. They have a conceit of themselves and a basic disregard for the individual at a visceral level.
