Surely this last ditch attempted Kamikaze attack by two ex ministers with nothing to lose, means that Brown is safe until the election. Now can the fullon attack on Brown and ZNL begin.
I would major on at least; how they have decimated jobs in the manufacturing sector, reduced manufacturing by a half and create 1 MILLION public sector jobs that a debased economy has to support.
And did you know that as an agricultural nation, having lost 15,000 dairy farms since Labour came to power we actually import 1.15 million litres of milk A DAY?
Think about that for a moment.
We import milk FFS! I What a legacy this bunch of incompetent sh*theads will leave us.
@ pete-s. How much of our manufacturing sectors troubles, exactly, are attributable to Labour, and how much to global market forces? And where do you get your figures from?
I grow rather tired of the craze for saying up 'til now its not been a good week for the tories (the spectator - in common with other supposewdly tory barclay bros owned titles, seems intent on crippling the tory party).
Labour come out with a string of barefaced lies, glibly repeated by BBC and SKY and its supposed to be a bad week.
The shocking lack of support for Brown over this 'plot' is very telling. Tories must be praying it does not succeed. What was risible on SKY was some labour loyalist screaming blue murder at hewitt and hoon accusing them of being self serving and lining their pockets after losing office and hoone being upset for not being put onto the EU money making gravey train (wonder what he thinks about baroness Ashton getting her nose in this trough he suddenly dislikes).
The main issue to remember about all this is that Labour have nothing to offer except lies. A sad but significant state of affairs. Who will be the first journalist to admit to having ethics and raise this first hand. Do not hold your breath.
Kate: 7:48 I got my basic stats by looking at the figures from the Institute of Manufacturing. I could be wrong but my interpretation is that since 1997 manufacuring as a % of GDP has halved upto this point. One very condemning stat is the steady drop in jobs from 4.5m to less than 3m. This has nothing to do with the downturn.
Pete: thanks for the figures, but how do you apportion them between the government and market forces? If you think it is 100% down to the government, what is your basis?
Pete; apologies, I should add, you appear to attribute to the gov, on basis of dates in power, but what I mean is, during this period, how do you separate gov policy effects from other forces (foreign labour, demand patterns, exchange rates, etc etc)?
Kate: To analyse the overall cause and effects are way beyond my capabilities. I learn't many years ago organisations are very much like schools. That is the good/bad of a school is very much set by the capabilities of the head master. The same I see as government they set the scene/atmosphere/approach. I see this gov set the tone for the the financial instutions and see what a mess they were allowed to get into. To lose 1.5M jobs says to me a government that does care about manufacturing. They seem to have put all their eggs into the financial markets. This has been a very reckless government. Idealogy over pragmatism and take any risk to achieve their utopia. Well we will be paying for the next 30 years the results of their reckless experiment.
Pete; appreciate you expanding on your view on Lab govt v manufacturing sector. Can't let people get away with declaring views they are unwilling/unable to justify a little bit, can we.
This provides a golden opportunity for the Tories... Among all the posters with David Cameron saying, 'We really can't go on like this,' how about a few featuring Hoon and Hewitt? 'We really can't go on like this -- Labour Ministers Hoon and Hewitt.'
Kate: It gives me no pleasure to report that during the Parliamentary debate today on the pre budget report, virtually all backbenchers of all parties condemned this gov on their attitude to manufacturing that has been criminal.
pete: Manufacturing v Labour; it gives me pleasure to hear this though, I can go and read what it is specifically the backbenchers are condemning govt on, thanks.
"We Really Can't Go On Like This - Hoon & Hewitt"
ReplyDeleteI didn't know anything was going on between them.
Yech.
Shades of Major/Currie.

If you put Hoon and Hewitt together you get Whine Tooth.

In case you haven't seen Brown's advice on what should happen if a party loses its majority, here it is again:
