Kevin Maguire has just made a laughing stock of himself on Sky News. He launched a vicious personal attack on Peter Watt - I won't even repeat what he said as it was beneath contempt. He then said that books like this never sell any copies and that they are only ever published because the Mail on Sunday will pay £20,000 or £25,00o in serialisation fees. That just about shows how little he knows about anything. We have more than 8,000 orders for this book, and it has received the largest serialisation for any political book since Alastair Campbell's diaries. Perhaps Kevin is jealous.
Attacks like this make me realise that Brown's acolytes have been deeply wounded by this book because they know it is an accurate record of what happened. If you'd like to shove the knife in a bit deeper, click HERE.
Saw this comment and thought.. And it's sold HOW many? And it's ranked WHERE on Amazon?
ReplyDeleteMcGullible also suggested that he, Watt, was a nasty small person. Immediately went on Amazon and reserved my copy!
I didn't hear what he said but maguire is entitled to his view.
ReplyDeleteAs you have an interest both as publisher of the book and as a Tory i think your views on this are clouded and biased.
Labour supporters will of course be angry with peter did he think he would be greeted by warm hugs and kisses after his book release?
Peter decided to write this book to damage the Labour party if you and others think differently more fool you. If that wasn't his aim why release it three months before a general election ?
"Attacks like this make me realise that Brown's acolytes have been deeply wounded by this book because they know it is an accurate record of what happened."
ReplyDeleteHow would they know that if it isn't published yet?
Iain,
ReplyDeleteI followed the link from your post and....oddly enough...I found myself buying a copy of this book.
Quite honestly, I believe that anyone who posts a link to their own blog on your site is the very worst sort of charlatan.
So here's mine
I would imagine floating voters, among many others, will be looking at this book very carefully.
ReplyDeleteIain, rarely have i reacted with so much profane vitriol, listening to this piece of unintelligent bile from Maguire. My beautiful neighbours will surely have raised eyebrows. I sometimes wonder if he is on protection from those "above". Why/How does this amateur idiot exist? Please confirm im not alone.
ReplyDelete"the largest serialisation for any political book since Alastair Campbell's diaries"
ReplyDeleteDefine 'largest'please
Jeez...enough of the book already. We get it. You've published a book. Get over it. You don't have to do a new post every time Marjorie from the post office comments on the book, or when it moves one space up a ranking that nobody has ever heard of.
ReplyDeleteCan we have a version for Kindle, please
ReplyDeleteYour heading "The Truth Hurts"
ReplyDeleteMaguire is a socialist, my maxim and not proved wrong,
"Socialists and the Truth are very Strange bed fellows indeed"
Look at every country, communist east block, and in Africa marxist, stalinist, communist, leninist, etc, not one could / or can tell the truth.
The trolls are out in force tonight, Iain. I'm not a floating voter but I can't wait to read the whole story so I've just ordered my copy from your link.
ReplyDelete>>As you have an interest both as publisher of the book and as a Tory i think your views on this are clouded and biased. <<
ReplyDeleteAs opposed to the entirely disinterested, unbiased analysis from yourself and Maguire ?
Funny how the trolls complain when you boast, that it is all irrelevant, but never seem to complain about Gio updates ....
ReplyDeleteI suspect you took a leap into the unknown with publishing this book, so your enjoyment of its success is entirely justified - boast away - the truth hurts the trolls too !

ReplyDeleteEven more balls than your usual standard of garbage. You really haven't a clue as to Watt's motivations any more than you do those of Maguire. By your own account you didn't even hear what he said.
Nor, for that matter, do you have the slightest idea as to Iain's motivation in publishing the book.
How long is it before the General Election, then? Do you actually know? You say 'three months' - which three months is that, then? Three months before it is called or held?
Maguire is a lackey - and a very stupid one at that.
Crickey, there's some mean-spirited comments here.
ReplyDeleteLook, this is Iain's blog, he's just published an important book that will impact upon the General Election, of course it is appropriate to have regular updates.
Right, ought to go and pre-order a copy I suppose.....
At least the MSM shows balance.
ReplyDeleteI am sure he will be reviewing it for BBC Newsnight Friday.
This book would impact on the GE if the BBC had bothered to cover the Watts story.

But we don't have a finacial interest in selling this book iain does.
I'm a Labour supporter but not a Brown acolyte i think a different leader would be better for the party. i think i'm a little less biased than iain on this subject.
iain said it has received the largest serialisation for any political book since Alastair Campbell's diaries. Can anyone name any recent political books thats a genuine request as i can't.
How would they know that if it isn't published yet?
ReplyDeleteBecause it is being serialised and most of the content is now known...dohh!!
A true son of Labour.
Thinking about Mcguire's comments about how small Peter Watt 'really' was in the Labour Machine, and a fantasist about his own importance reminded me of comments lodged by the New Labour Cabal about nearly every other former employee who realises their mistakes and goes whistleblower.
ReplyDeleteOr maybe says things related to his job that go against NewSpeak from Our Glorious Leader?
Anyone care to recall the nice things said about Dr Kelly? I can't..

So peter did it for the love of the Labour party ? he's a bitter man maybe he has every right to be.
But people in the Labour won't forgive him.
Peter sold his story for money and revenge thats my opinion you can have yours i have mine.
"Nor, for that matter, do you have the slightest idea as to Iain's motivation in publishing the book".
So what was his motivation other than political and money ? again thats my view rest assured your allowed to disagree.
"How long is it before the General Election, then? Do you actually know? You say 'three months' - which three months is that, then? Three months before it is called or held?

I actually think the election will be called for may 6th again my view so yes three months.
maybe he will do a Major and have a longer campaign hoping the Tories might actually announce some policies.
we all have views these are mine if you disagree thats fine and i thank you unsworth for sharing yours lol
@ golden_balls
ReplyDeleteOn the one hand you say you think you're 'less biased' and on the other you trot out a series of wholly unprovable and apparently unsubstantiated 'opinions' - even on interviews which you didn't hear. Well that's typical of the NuLab cretins who seem to be unable to distinguish between fact and opinion.
Sure, you're entitled to your views - but they're not worth much if they are founded on such wild fantasy. You make assumptions as to people's motivations which are crass - if you want to know, why not simply ask them before venturing your lurid assertions?
unsworth
ReplyDeleteThis blog and others are based on rumour and gossip etc you might like to think that only conservatives speak the truth and whatever iain says is fact but sadly it aint so.
If iain didn't want views he wouldn't allow comments you can have your views as i can have mine.
I do believe i'm less biased than iain when it comes to GB i don't like this PM i'd prefer if he resigned but i support the Labour Party.
While iain is i assume making money out of this publication and a Tory.
I hope this has resolved your confusion unsworth if not perhaps an early night or a brisk walk to clear the cobwebs.
Mguire is indeed a pillock and is comments on watt were pathetic.
ReplyDeletebut his comments are always pathetic becauise he is a pillock - oh this is where i came in....
Fireforce - the only peoploe who can be socialists are those who can hold 2 diametrically opposed views in their head at the same time.
