PMQs Open Thread
I am afraid there will be no blogging for most of the day. Please use this as an open thread to discuss PMQs or anything else.
I just cannot believe Cameron. Each week he has an open goal with Brown and each week he misses the goal. I know that PMQ’s is not the policy powerhouse, but it is the open window for people to see the leaders of the parties and Cameron’s misses make Tory supporters groan.
Come on Cameron. Hit Brown where it hurts and wipe the smarmy smile off his face.
I think it was a poor performance by Brown, OK by David Cameron, but he still won it.
Brown's as always ended up defaulting to stats and delivering the pre-prepared lines as obviously pre-prepared and as Paul Waugh is saying, is this red faced Cameron stuff a new personal attack low?
clegg quaetion putting pressure on brown to appear at clegg was the best.....pity dave's brains trust can't come up with these.....makes brown look shifty( or even more so)...quite brilliant.....only other highlight...labour non-entity asking the law be changed so that loonies can stay in parliament.....brown is obviously desperate....
Why was an electricity turbine ordered to be moved moved through Helmand province, by road 6 months ago, at great cost in blood and treasure to the British Army.
Only for it NEVER to be used or even fitted.
These questions are what QT and the Commons is for. It will be totally ignored by the MSM concerned ONLY with Westminster Green Zone spin.
Labour and the Conservatives debated spending cuts, with nobody bothering to ask how we can afford to give aid to Haiti and Western Sahara, but we can't afford not to cut public spending. And I don't that poor policeman who was car bombed and has had his leg amputated got a mention.
David Cameron cannot beat Gordon Brown at PMQs as GB just doesn't answer questions and the supine Speaker refuses to do anything about it. It's a scandal...
There's no point in Cameron asking a serious question. We all know the response is likely to be some irrelevant pre-prepared nonsense which the speaker is quite content to tolerate. Clegg seems to have learnt the lesson rather better than Cameron: dig hard through that ghastly rhinocerus hide with a question which impugns the beast.
Cameron was impressive and going for the kill a bit more towards the end, but honestly until the TV debates he can't really let Brown have it because PMQs always gives the last li(n)e to the PM. Clegg definitely got the right question for him, and Brown once again excelled at simply ignoring the question or being massively dishonest with his statistics.
moorlandhunter, Boris johnson is hilarious in this debate with "his cousin Alan", Alan Johnson. Boris says, (there are loads of other witticisms) "Hoon's a buffoon, Hewitt blew it, (....) they had their opportunity and they fluffed it!) On top form, but more importantly, he nails Labour to the wall. This is what the rest of the Tory party should be doing.

Frankly, a disappointing waste of time today :-(

Adam Boulton on Sky has been watching a different PMQs to the rest of the real world:
ReplyDelete"Sky's political editor Adam Boulton described it as a "ragged, messy and pointless PMQs".
"But Gordon Brown gave David Cameron a bit of a mauling - and for once had the (slightly) better jokes."
Almost as deluded as Broon, himself.
Average performance by Cameron. Best questions of PMQs were from Clegg who led on Chilcott.

ReplyDeletebest question of the day?
ReplyDeletefrom a (Labour?) backbencher:

not the snow, surely. Britain must keep going, no matter what they throw at us.
ReplyDeleteCameron appears lost on PMQ's. It is about time he asked Hague for help, especially on jokes!!
ReplyDeleteLike Hague ask Six different questions and positively NEVER bring up BOOM and BUST again!!
Asking six different questions will have Brown switching through his notes and may well catch him out.
Six different questions which Brown will not answer!
Clegg was clearly the winner at today's PMQs. Very impressive performance.
ReplyDeleteThe below is from yesterday's Radio 4 schedules. Was this a most un-Beeblike reaction to a certain testimony to the Chilcot Enquiry?

ReplyDeleteCan anyone work out how much PMQ's costs in terms of 30 mins salary time for all 600 odd MP's (inc. cabinet allowances)??
ReplyDeleteGuido's got a good spin on PMQs.
ReplyDeleteDavid Cameron cannot beat Gordon Brown at PMQs as GB just doesn't answer questions and the supine Speaker refuses to do anything about it. It's a scandal...
ReplyDeleteI am afraid DC was disappointing.
ReplyDeleteIf questions are to be brought up about anything, you MUST have the stats to demonstrate Brown's lies in his reply.
Pretty poor staff work.
