Highly ironic that my old friend from Sunday Service days, Charlie Whelan, is praying for his flight not to be cancelled over snow, when his brothers in arms are intent on causing chaos for so many holidaymakers this year. Charlie Whelan, for the uninitiated, is political officer of UNITE, the union behind the BA strike. And as political officer, he doles out unon funds to Labour candidates in marginal seats. He's an increasingly popular man.
UNITE (capital letters), The National Federation of Royal Mail & BT Pensioners, is the oldest and the largest occupational pensioner organisation in the United Kingdom.
ReplyDeleteUnite (the union) is the largest trade union in the UK with almost 2 million members.
Please don't confuse the two.
Just as long as it's a one way ticket...
ReplyDeleteEddie, UNITE is also a mobile phone network operator in Moldova. Your organisation must get confused with them all the time.
ReplyDeleteWhy didn't he take the train like the little people
ReplyDeleteCan someone set up a new network so Charlie and his ilk can chat away to their hearts contentw ithout annoyting the rest of us?
