Hmmm no mention of the Stonewall decision: wonder why?
ReplyDeleteApologies - I'm just about out of annual leave! I hope it all goes well.
ReplyDeleteI think I might make the journey from Brum for these events.
ReplyDeleteYesterday's Conference Highlights
ReplyDelete10.00am Fringe Meeting: Why Britain must abandon Europe!
Speaker: Sir Xavier E. Nophobe. (attended by the entire mad section of the Party, total 13,445)
Sir Xavier spoke at length about the need to ditch Europe. There was delight in the crowd when he condemned Johnny Foreigner as a "no good, corrupt and
utterly unprincipled swine of a fellow who just wants to take advantage of our fine English bodily fluids". Mr Nophobe went on to demand that Britain
leave not just the EU but the entire planet. He also denounced the ghastly English Channel, which he said is "nothing but a channel for foreigners to
cross easily into dear old Blighty". By this time, many Tories in the audience were openly weeping and rending their garments. "We must cancel this
ghastly institution which is stealing away our sovereignty and return at once to the good old days when the USA told us what to do" he said, to cheers.
11.25am Floppy Fringe meeting: TV interview training: Boris Johnson on how to deal with the likes of Paxman
Speaker: Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson (Eton and Oxford, Bullingdon) (attendance 621 journalists asking about the Bullingdons)
Boris started by denouncing Paxman ever so cleverly. "I really shafted him, what" he announced. "I mean crumbs, er, brilliant, emm, yes". He went on to
denounce the BBC. "The way to get Paxo is to, er, ask him about his, hmmm, salary, yes and then, gosh, When that fails, keep mumbling the word
"intermediation" - since nobody knows what this means, it should work, er, I think." Members of the audience praised Johnson for his last few seconds,
when Paxman was forced to give way and hand the camera over to him completely, during which Boris brilliantly did some incoherent, unplanned and random
muttering about how marvellous the Tories are. "Gosh I was good", said Boris. "Crikey".
14:25 A journalists love-in, starring Danny Finkelstein, Mary-Anne Genius, Michael Crick, Lord Dale of Chigwell* and Michael White. (attendance 5)
Dale started by denouncing Mike White as a "murderer, bigamist and probable Nazi". That out of the way, Finkestein and that woman from the Times
explained how they and they alone have been right all along about absolutely everything and that chap Crick is a dreadful grammar school oink. Dale went
on to denounce Culture, explaining that it was no "sacred cow" and his number one hate object, although he denied that he was beautifully tricked into
looking totally sad and moronic by Crick during an amusing newsnight presentation.
15:30 "Bring back hunting" special event: "Killing the Fox at Conference". (organised by the Town and Country Young Barkers)
A large number of Tories gathered on the platform to carry out the ancient and annual "killing of the fox at Conference". The fox this time was none
other than Nigel Farage, whom the Party Rather Wishes Was Not About. Mr Farage ran madly about the stage, yelling "we will pinch all your votes this
time" and "Lisbon referendum now!", pursued by a number of ardent young Tories such as Mr Clarke and Mr Rifkind. Finally he was cornered on a point of law about the referendum's constitionality post-hoc a Rome filing of Instruments of the Queen during a Strasbourg Semester. As he died horribly on this point, cheering Conservatives ran out into the streets covered in UKIP blood yelling "the tyrant is dead!".
Tomorrow: How Boris won the war against Crick.
* Recently elevated prior to his assumption into the Bracknell role so that the inconvenience of a Parliamentary career need not be bothered with.
"TRUST: HOW WE LOST IT & HOW TO GET IT BACK"
ReplyDeleteYou can`t!
1. Why did Heath commit treason in 1972 as disclosed in classified documents released under the 25 year rule and available for all to read in the National Records Office?
2. All MP`s compliant in the theft and fraud committed by most of them!
3. We are all in this together! Until it comes to ME (Osborne) submitting his ACA expense claims!! Osborne claimed £22,800 for Mortgage interest payments!! Don`t forget the £400.00 a WEEK food allowance!!
This is just a snapshot of the many reasons why trust in the establishment will never be regained!
BTW Ian, IF you become an MP, will you claim £400.0 per week food allowance? Not too good for the diet I`d say!!
I don't think trains run from my end to Manchester . Hmm, would enjoy a bit of a giggle though, and a glass of something chilled.
ReplyDeleteOh well, Iain, you will tell all tomorrow won't you?
Pity the conference tickets were so expensive!
Can't make it. I hope it goes well! Any hidden photographers to take pics of Tories drinking champagne?
ReplyDeleteAnd what does Iain think of DC's dodgy new pals in Europe then? Bad news for David Cameron. he needs to rethink his position...
ReplyDelete"Ben Summerskill, the chief executive of the gay rights group Stonewall, pulled out of a gay pride event at the Tory conference in protest at appearances by Michał Kamiński, the head of the Law and Justice party and the leader of the Tories' new bloc in the European parliament, and Roberts Zile, the leader of the Latvian For Fatherland and Freedom party, another member of the new group.
"There is no doubt the progress that has been made in the last couple of years has genuinely been historic," Summerskill told Channel 4 News, referring to Tory attitudes to gay rights.
"But the event tonight has been overshadowed by the presence, not just at conference but on the same platform as some senior members of the party, of people of such extreme and offensive views."
Why would DC want to associate himself with these bigots from Poland?
Have a good night, folks.
ReplyDeleteRe: directions
ReplyDeleteI think you may mean to turn right from Portland Street on to Aytoun Street, and then left on to Auburn Street. Hotel is next to Piccadilly station approach.
- Expat Mancunian.
PS: Hope you all have a great time.
I must change these glasses. At first glance I thought it said "Come to my Bloggerheads Party"...
ReplyDeleteIt's enough to make me wish I were a Tory. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteShame. If the party wasn't wanting an obscene three-figure sum of money for me, a poor student, to attend conference I would have loved to have gone to this party.
ReplyDeleteIt all sounds jolly fun... used to go to lots of these things in the past...
ReplyDeleteI know how Cinderella felt!
ReplyDeleteThere are too many bills to pay.
Great night - but a bit of a walk. Which is even more a testament to the Dale pulling-power. Loved it.
ReplyDeleteO/T: Just watched the Andrew Neil thing on BBC. Theresa May looked like she was wearing Major Tom’s space suit.
ReplyDeleteIt was a great night and I met lots of nice people.
ReplyDeleteThanks for setting it up Iain!

ReplyDelete"of people of such extreme and offensive views." yes that is bad but then again what do stonewall want? where is this social/political/work /law barrier that they want to remove? it's not the 1950's any more! also is not the best way to change minds to engage with them teach them? .
No we will what? push them from our tv /radio/life/law/society ,remove them from their jobs single them out as hate figures ! hhm and i thought fry and his labour luvvies were anti Nazi/fascists?.
Sadly, I was back home by the time it started. Now if you'd held it the previous evening ...
ReplyDeleteThanks to you and your sponsors - a really pleasant party at the City Inn. My wife loved the canapes!
ReplyDeleteHas Steve Nallon produced any recordings of his "acts"?
