Why Michael Crick is Wrong on Lynton Crosby

Michael Crick, love him as I do, is trying to create mischief in his latest blogpost on Jonathan Isaby's scoop. He reckons Lynton Crosby has "defected" to Libertas. Fail. Lynton runs a company which advises political parties on how to run and win election campaigns. He is a consultant. Consultants consult. They are the political equivalent of mercanaries.

I'd love to see him back advising the Tories on the next general election campaign. But in the meantime, he and his company need to earn a living. To suggest that he, personally, has defected is idiotic. He is as much a Conservative today, as he was a month ago. I suspect the same can be said for Sir Paul Judge too.

  1. "Mercanaries" Iain. Half-women, half irritating small birds, perhaps. Or was it a heavy night?

  3. Is/was Crosby under some sort of contractual obligation to the Conservatives?

    Crick is an idiot.

  5. Michael Crick seems to thrive on this sort of thing. It seems a shame that so much licence fee money is devoted to Crick to submit his little 'filler' pieces in between what passes for impartial analysis on the BBC.

  6. "Michael Crick, love him as I do"

That will be two then, assuming his Mother does or did. He is typical of the nasty dogma infested Labour Luvvies that have helped get us into the awful mess we are in.

  7. Crick is just a juvenile nuisance.I never listen to him. He, I believe, wanted to be a comedian but nobody laughed.

As for Mr Crosby I agree with you, Iain, totally. He has to earn his corn. The Conservatives could have employed him and they didn't.

    Libertas' gain.

  8. Eastern Daily story suggestions.

Government Plan to concrete in the Norfolk Broads to build a holding camp for immigrants!

North Walsham earmarked for Gypsy/Traveller encampment.

Cromer to host The Eurovision Song Contest should the UK win!

Great Yarmouth set to become the Las Vegas of the UK with mammoth plans for casino's, lap dancing clubs and street parades. (that is just to annoy my brother!!)

New form of Democracy set to be trialled in Norfolk. Councillors will be elected by an X FACTOR type television show. Presented by Will Young.

    Norfolk to be granted Independence.

Health and safety officials have demanded that anyone using the Norfolk Broads must have a safety helmet, Lifejacket, Horn and Torch on their person at all times. Plus footwear approved by them. i.e. no more flip flops.

That will wake up your readership, Iain.

  10. Can I hazard a guess that Mr Crick has never had a job in the commercial sector and is therefore unaware how those that do, actually earn a living.

  11. Sound like more No. 10 dividing line spin from Commissar Crick.

  12. "I'm Michael Crick, and I'm Newsnight's political editor. My guiding rule is that in any story there's usually something the politicians would prefer the world not to know. My job is to find that out."
I would say that it appears that his guiding rule is more like "how can I investigate and report something embarrassing to the Conservative Party whilst neatly avoiding embarrassing the Labour Party."
