What Iceland Thinks of Gordon Brown

This picture was taken outside a shop window in Reykjavik. I shall refrain from further comment.

  1. but most poo is brown - therefore this T-shirt has integrity.

Iain, what with the granny sex and poopoo theme for today? Feeling a bit naughty or something?

  3. It is global poo, and the UK is in a good position relative to the poo because Gordon has done away with boom and bust.

  6. I'm not a Brown fan, but Iceland cannot blame its woes on him. Iceland is responsible for its own misery and the misery of millions of other people around the world he have lost lots of money.

Iceland's problems started with their own errors. However Brown's use of anti-terrorism legislation against their banks made it much more difficult for them to work out a solution.

  9. How do you think poo will feel, being compared to Gordon Brown?

  10. Iain: Did you know that Reykjavik has sent over a container of woolly jumpers to the East Riding and Lincolnshire because pensioners have been freezing to death?

  11. "The President of Iceland has asked Social Democratic party leader Ingibjorg Gisladottir to try to form an interim administration.

It is reported that Social Affairs Minister Johanna Sigurdardottir will be named as interim Prime Minister.

If chosen Ms Sigurdardottir, 66, will become the first openly gay or lesbian person to become a head of government.

She has been an MP since 1978 and was recently voted the most popular politician in Iceland.

Yesterday the country's Prime Minister stood down and the entire Cabinet resigned.

A general election has been called for May 9th.

The government was toppled by the financial crisis, which severely affected the Icelandic banking system.

The International Monetary Fund began a $2.1bn (£1.49bn) bailout programme in December to stop the nation of 320,000 people going bankrupt.

Norway, Denmark, Finland and Sweden are lending Iceland an additional $2.5bn."

Poo inadvertently brings progress to Iceland.

  12. What's refreshingly different about Icelandic politics is that their Prime Minister is prepared to appear in public and admit he made mistakes in handling the economy. Geir Haarde was on Newsnight earlier saying he had regrets - which is more than Gordon Brown has ever managed.

I saw that T-shirt last year in a store on Laugavegur, but it was never open. And I was so desperate to get one...

  13. Obviously the Tory leader of Iceland has showed where it gets you when you meet the global crisis the Tory way.

The Icelandic Blue is no more.

I've been asking for examples of superior Tory handling of the crunch for months. This is so far the best example available.

    Complete failure.
