It's just been announced that Janet Anderson MP has pulled out of attending this morning's NEC meeting. She was the only MP attending who has requested a nomination paper, and was expected to demand at the meeting that papers should be sent out to every Labour MP.
If I was being cynical I'd think she had been threatened with something by the whips...
Meanwhile, the Scotsman speculates that Caroline Flint could be a stalking horse. I'd say that was fanciful beyond belief.
UPDATE 10:15: Labour's NEC has decided NOT to send out nomination papers. Expect further MPs to go public later today.
I think it says a lot about Labour mentality that the party hierarchy think they can see off a leadership challenge by witholding the requisite paperwork.
ReplyDeleteWhat is so special about the actual forms? Why don't MPs simply write in to demand a leadership election?
Janet Anderson's family have now been released unharmed from No 10 Downing St!

ReplyDeleteCaroline Flint? She'd be the first PM with a moustache since Harold Macmillan.
ReplyDeleteIain - do your civic duty! Get hold of a copy of the form and mail it to each Labour MP. Bis-bash-bosh - job done. As is Gordon.
ReplyDeleteWell, La Flint is a silly mare - stalking or not.
ReplyDelete"... Caroline Flint could be a stalking horse. I'd say that was fanciful beyond belief."
ReplyDeleteFor many of us, politcal views cast aside, I think the appropriate word for Caroline is fanciable !
Stalking horse or not, I'd certainly like to ride out on her !
Perhaps they threatened to investigate her expenses.
