The government spin machine went into overdrive yesterday with the announcement of a
"new" neighbourhood policing plan. All the TV and newspaper outlets lapped it up. Only it wasn't new at all. It is part of a government programme which has been rolled out
since 2005, when it was
first announced. These new neighbourhhod police teams are already inexistence (eg
HERE). Why does the media always going along with these 'reheated' announcements?
What's the point when our prison are overflowing.No point in giving us a mobile phone number.

I live in Lambeth and it is news to me that contact numbers and email addresses of local officers are available. I asked the police to deal with the anti-social behaviour on my estate and the reply was "it's not as bad as on the xxx estate, so no we aren't going to visit".
ReplyDeleteI get letters through the door encouraging me to complain about anti-social behaviour. My housemate complained about the council tenants across the road. The person who used to live here got the last lot evicted, apparently.

ReplyDeleteMind you, as a resident of Clapham it's good to see two of our local police officers not in a speeding car on the main road. Not much sign of them in the strets where we live.
Fially - the new web site is very jolly and colourful - but painfully slow to load - all those full colour icons down the right hand side perhaps?

ReplyDeleteFirst, compile a diary of the anti-social behaviour. Present it to your local councillor and your MP, along with a note of the Police response. Network with action groups on problem estates and get ideas and success formulae.

How many ended up in the recycling bins? Pathetic waste of money and the 'team' phones keep going to voicemail, they have to or they'd never get any other work done or go to PACT/PC and a host of other pointless meetings. SPIN SPIN SPIN!
