Will Guido's Letter Prove the End for Wendy Alexander?

Guido has got the proof that Scottish Labour leader Wendy Alexander was not telling the truth when she said she knew nothing of Paul Green's donation to her leadership campaign. He's got a copy of her thank you letter. I think it is fair to say that Wendy Alexander is even more trouble than Harriet Harman now.

  1. If you think Labour in the NE stinks it's nothing compared to Scotland.

  2. I hope Wendy gets the boot as her election agent infered that I was a paedophilie.

  3. Stop! please lay off blogosphere, this will be a disaster for the SNP if she is replaced with somebody competent!

  4. I'm hoping Wendy resigns as leader, then resigns her seat and gets replaced as an MSP and Labour leader by her election agent. He would make Wendy look almost competent.

  5. Harman is safe - her shot across the bows shows she is totally willing to pursue a 'scorched earth' policy to save her own political skin. Bitch.

  6. Ian, you call it "proof" so I suppose it must be the genuine article. If you're not 100% sure I suggest you reword a bit.

Maybe, maybe not. One thing that is clear is that the agenda is out of NuLab's control. Her attempt at saying "If I go, you go too" to Kiltie just means that if events sink her, he's even weaker than he would have been.

And to think I voted for this shower in 1997.

  8. Guido has become the victim of an elaborate forgery 'sting', and you are gullible enough to have fallen for it yourself...

  9. Well said well wisher. Guido is a maverick and prankster and mocking up such a piece of "evidence" is not beyond him. In the context of his satirical bollocks-blog he might well get away with it. But here on a top quality serious blog you really must be much more careful.

If there is such a letter addressed to the Channel Islands there is a case that that might actually show that Wendy or her assistants were being dim or naive - having never had a proper job or even been a branch officer or any of that boring stuff - rather than being evil incarnate.

    It's £950 Iain - do calm yourself.

  10. Chris Paul:

    It's £950

    Peter Hain:

    It's only £5,000

Do we see here in black and white Labour's attitude to the spirit of the law they created? You can bet that if it was the Tories with £1 out of place there would be howls of corruption up and down the land. In New Britain, however, all are equal but some are more equal than others.

  11. Jack Straw on 'Today' has fianlly got around to what the MSM have missed thus far which is that it was under the Tennis Partner's Regime that this started. Lord Levy is also a member of Labour Friends of Israel which ought to have set some radars pinging like mad!

I noted the Levy/Blair connection on Wednesday (http://tinyurl.com/2vkcem) and noted then the Sedgefield connection.

I pose some other Levy/Blair questions today:

The BBC and others are desperately trying to play this all down to the extent that Michael White has been given a virtual 'right to roam' over the studios to peddle the message that this is all a storm in a teacup.

Just imagine the righteous indignation if this was a Tory scandal and the wall to wall 'news specials'.

It is up to us to help this one along a bit.

  12. Chris, it doesn't matter if it is £9.50, £950 or £950,000. Integrity is not something one puts a price on...

  13. Whether Guido's is genuine or not has just become moot - BBC reports that Green has admitted receipt of a personal thank you from Wendy.

It's not the crime that they get you for, it's the cover up.

BBC 15.48 "Mr Green said he had received a personal letter from Ms Alexander thanking him for his contribution."

Look at the BBC News website here:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/7120096.stm

Paul Green says he received a letter of thanks for his donation from Wendy Alexander. We know that Labour supporters don't lie, so we have to assume there is such a letter. Whether what's posted on Guido's website is a faithful copy is, at this point, no longer that important. She either lied about it, or she doesn't know what her staff are doing in her name.

So she's now a proven liar or a proven incompetent - neither of which will help her stay in office.

  18. £950 or £650,000 - it is still breaking the law. According to Mr Green, and the BBC now there was a letter. Wendy has got some more questions to answer now.

  19. I confirm that the BBC in Scotland say they have seen a copy of the personal letter sent FROM HER HOME ADDRESS to Paul Green AT HIS HOME ADDRESS IN JERSEY (although his address was blanked out in the BBC copy)
    How stupid is she?

Also revealed that Paul Green is furious at being involved in this, and also that he gave an earlier donation to the South Glasgow Labour Party.
Paul Green is the developer of shopping malls, one of which has just opened in South Glasgow.

Remember that Wendy is Brown's protege--will not do him any good if she has to resign.

  20. Chris Paul is an idiots idiot. Why would I destroy myself by faking a letter?

    "I'm only slightly pregnant..."

  22. News is that Wendy is to make a resignation statement tonight.

  23. Iain,

What we all should bear in mind is that without the blogosphere all this may never have been discovered. The newspapers are, in the main, slaves to number 10 and we cannot rely on either the BBC or SKY and definately channel 4 for unbiased news.

With the EU about to fight the internet we may well have the fight to get us out of the EU..think about it.

We either have free speech in this country or not. The Internet is providing, it seems, the only outlet for FREE speech.

  25. It's becoming like Watergate. Initially the break in/the small technical irregularity. Then the denial/dismissal. Then the cover up. Then the uncovering of the cover up. Then the discovery of a web of corruption and criminality that went right to the top. Nixon remains the only US president ever to resign. Brown and Harman must be praying, right now, that they don't have to follow his example...

  26. Has Chris Paul gone for lie down the nu?

  27. Iain, sorry I misspelt your name earlier. Yep, she's toast OK!

Chris Paul -- I did not post my 4:00 for her sake.

  28. The left must hate the internet. We are at last having our say without the BBC deciding what we can or cannot hear. Blogs have made the BBC look even worse with their leftie bias. The Left wing EU is trying to regulate it. It is in Germany you can not sell any world war 1 & 2 artifacts on e bay etc.

  29. Well said Strapworld. Without the net an awful lot of inconvenient stuff would never see the light - as indeed it used not to.

The problem with getting rid of Wendy Alexander is that there is no other credible leader. Charlie Gordon, ex-boss of glasgow, who would like to think of himself as the top contender is even more deeply tarnished by this. He is the guy who solicited this donation on Wendy's behalf. Coincidentally the donor is Glasgow's biggest property developer who has made many millions out of scheme's which Charlie's council approved.

(You may ask well switch comment moderation on again, Iain. I'll be here all night. Try the veal.)

  31. It's better for everyone else in Scotland that Wendy, who is now permanently damaged, remains in place.

  32. Thanks for the warning, Tim. When we see your name we'll just scroll straight down to the next poster.

  33. Chris Paul and his other Labour astro-turfers are now looking incredibly stupid.

Check the Telegraph blog guys. Iain Martin has confirmed its genuine as the entire Scottish press pack also have copies.

You're credibility is mince now Chris. People are going to remind you of this every time you make a claim.
