The Perils of a Misplaced Exhaust Pipe

Hampshire police thought it would be a good idea to advertise on the rear of a bus... although their planning did not take into account the position of the bus's exhaust pipe... It gives a new meaning to the phrase "would you blow into this, sir"!

  1. You're nicked! Looks like you copied this almost word for word from Recess Monkey.

  2. That would be a tad difficult as I haven't actually looked at Recess Monkey for several weeks. However, I plead guilty to probably having received the same tip-off email. At least I slightly reworded it, which is more than he did!!

  7. Am I being a curmudgeon in wondering why the hell the police are spending our money on pointless advertising?

When people say they want to see police on their streets, they don't mean as a 2D image on the back of a bus.

  9. I got it via email and then posted it on Recess Monkey, adding my own final joke. Not unlikely that Iain also got it via email and used much of the same wording.

The problem of blogging is that there is an expectation that you read every other blog in your genre/sphere constantly and therefore would know if anyone had posted a story already. I certainly don't - I don't have the time or the inclination!

  11. good point Matthew.

is this advertising needed just to REMIND people in our beat-copper-less streets that there still is such as thing as a police force?

    probably.

  12. Yes, thank you Red Tamarin. Your evidence corroborates Dale's (even though it's prejudicial to your own defence), and means you have both admitted to plagiarism. Feel free to respond at to my crime report at Lobster Blogster.
