Now you know that I am not a rugby fan, but even I watched the game on Saturday night - ok, ok, it was on in the background over dinner. Anyway, Jonny and the England rugby team certainly did the country proud at the weekend. Although it may be early to think of Xmas pressies just now, England rugby fans could do worse than visit www.notjustagame.co.uk where personally signed Jonny Wilkinson limited edition prints are still available. The images are by the caricaturist John Ireland and all the official prints come with a photo of Jonny signing his prints. HERE'S a direct link to the Jonny print.
I'd comment, but I'm too afraid of being "unmasked".

Iain,
ReplyDeleteYou'll take some stick from Verity for watching TV while dining!
Nice print, but shurely JW's left-footed, isn't he? (predominantly, I mean - I know he's fairly handy off the right as well...)
ReplyDeleteI hope the Ireland bloke is not related to Tim or you may get all petulant and remove this post as well!
ReplyDeleteOwn goal here by the print-maker: Jonny is left-footed in all his set-piece kicks, only using his right foot for opportunistic mid-field kicks, as any fule kno. And his right foot was out of kicking action in the last match as he said in a post-match interview.Back to the sketch-pad I think!
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't look anything like him
ReplyDeleteThat is clearly not Jonny Wilkinson. It looks more like Alan Johnson, but surely he's too common to play rugby?

ReplyDeleteWell spotted, but for info these JW signed prints were originally produced to celebrate England's success in the 2003 Rugby World Cup. In the final against Australia, Jonny's winning drop-goal was actually struck with his right foot - hence the reason why the print depicts Jonny kicking with his right foot.
It looks a little like Jonny Prescott, a well-known leftie. Nothing like Mr Wilkinson.

Can we have a limited edition print of him snubbing GG after the game?

ReplyDeleteThat is remarkable news.
The main problem with this picture is that Jonny looks too old.
And in 2003 he was even younger!
