An Hour With Gyles Brandreth
I know Gyles Brandreth is an acquired taste, but I still reckon his book BREAKING THE CODE is the best political book of the last ten years. Last week I did an hour long interview with him on 18 Doughty Street. The above is a short clip, but if you'd like to see the whole hour, click HERE.

Murdoch's been arse-licking Brown so long and hard his mouth's went as dry as a dead dingo's d.....
Blair tried to warn Murdoch and everyone else Brown was a clunking fist with no idea what goes on. Maybe they all thought it was just 6 of one and half a dozen of the other.
Brown could look OK on the coat tails of Blair. And Blair had no choice but to support him in public. Without Blair's courage and self-belief, Brown's almost farcical - a pygmy.
Brandreth sounds good. will click on later to watch more. I wonder hoe he would compare Brown to Blair. He obviously hadn't much time for Hague and Major.

I will probably buy the book on your recommendation as well. It occurred to me doing your survey that advertising books was probably the best interface for you. I would be interested in poltical book reviews and recommendations.

'Breaking the code' is a good book. Brandreth got a lot of stick at the time for revealing some 'secrets' but he probably kept the best ones out. Incidentally, in the book he refers to Sir Patrick Cormack as a 'Bufton Tufton' figure - spot on Gyles!
Yes, he is an acquired taste, but very good in small doses - he is more of a 'late night brandy' than to be consumed by the pint. The little vignettes he did on the Westminster Hour was absolutely fantastic.

Boris and Brandreth would be a great comedy double act. Boris and Brandreth could be ranked up there with Abott and Costello, Morcambe and Wise and Laurel and Hardy.
Hugely agree re his diaries. Once you get through the luvvie bit at the start the stuff on the decline and fall of the Major Government and the complete lack of discipline from the backbenches is first rate reading.
I've long argued that a copy should be given to every Labour MP who is thinking of rebelling to show them the damage it can do. I believe remaindered copies of the book can be picked up quite cheaply!
Watching Sky News tonight and the editing and manipulation of today's events, Murdoch has clearly decided that Broown should be replaced by Milliband.
