Something for "The Special One"
After last year's cup final, and the nice things Steven Gerrard said about Hammers fans in his autobiography, Liverpool are now every West Ham supporter's second favourite team. And we still hate Chelsea.
Indeed, Barney, a mate and lifelong Hammers fan took a coach load up to watch the final and afterwards walked past a bar of Liverpool fans who all applauded them when abuse might usually have been expected.
A long way from seeing the Liverpool fans burning the hammers flag behind us during the Charity Shield when I was a kid...
After the supine way that the FA have acted in dealing with West Ham's rule transgressions, I am surprised that you raise footballing matters on here (although ever since the days of Julian Dicks some think West Ham and football is an oxymoron). A deduction of 10 points should have been the penalty for such a flagrant breach. I sincerely hope West Ham are relegated with Watford and Wigan.
Given their behaviour this season - I would have thought that West Ham have moved closer towards the Chelsea camp. Links may be a lot closer than is apparent on the surface given the persistent rumours about Russian mafia involvement in the Icelandic economy.
As someone who doesn't support any of the big teams but who had the joys of growing up supporting his hometown team surrounded by glory-seeking Liverpool fans (most of whom had been glory seeking Leeds fans only a few years earlier)can I just say.... COME ON MILAN!!!
I hate to say it but Ed is right: bung in as much money as you like but it won't buy you success.
I say this as a life-long Chelsea fan (sorry Iain).
What I also hope, given Man U's humiliation tonight and despite Chelsea's coming a cropper last night at Anfield, is that everyone will be supporting the 'Pool against AC Milan in Athens.
Wish it was Chelsea but I will certainly be backing Liverpool big time.
Abramovich and Brown should get together - they are both proving that throwing money at an organisation doesn't solve everything...

Ah, wonderful! And can I again thank you for Mascherano. He's (y)our buy of the season.
ReplyDeleteYes, I've always been fond of the mighty Reds.
ReplyDeleteApparently, Mourinho was seen in Boots this morning buying viagra. No matter how hard he tries, he just can't get past a semi...
RS
don't speak for me, Iain, I can't stand the scousers.
ReplyDeleteAfter the events of last night/this morning re Phillip Carter and his son, could we refrain from such comments please.
ReplyDeleteAre your comments about Chelsea in good taste considering the helicopter crash?
ReplyDelete....and there are some things that money can buy - like, for instance, a tie and a razor!

Any thoughts on who Gordo will be supporting?
Throwing money doesn't buy success?
ReplyDeleteIt did for Blackburn with Jack Walkers money. It has done for Chelsea.
I remember going to watch Chelsea play Shrewbury in the 80's and what thave they won over the last three years - quite a bit more than the Hammers.
So in football moeny does go along way to buying success.
