It's an easy mistake to make. After all, a serving Minister, a prominent Blairite peer and a senior Downing Street staffer are all preparing to defect, with a safe Tory seat being arranged for that last even as I write.
In the last days of my Labour Party membership (ah, what a thing it is to be FREE!), that Party refused to deny to me that certain persons on the Cameron A-list were still among its members in good stnading.

I dont think you should be too hard on the BBC, its a simple continuity error.
The poor old Beeb are still reeling from being outed for pre-announcing the collapse of World Trade Centre 7 by 23 minutes as a consequence of 'fires'. It was hardly their fault if the demolition team were late in setting off the charges - but you have to agree it was a damn fine job when it finally came down.
I remember years ago on BBC Breakfast News watching four cllrs being interviewed before the Locals. The captions underneath ran < name >, Labour, LibDem, Green, Extreme Right Conservative.
About 20 mins later the newsreader apologised that a 'back room editors indication' of where the Tory was standing on the screen had 'inadvertently' been shown.
By then the damage was done; tens of thousands of people had assumed that the guy was a raving loon, and I was bitterly regretting not living in his ward and being able to vote for him.
The BBC are best placed to recognise "Dave" as one of their own, being largely staffed with Pinkoes. No mistake was made here and we should be grateful that the BBC has got it right for a change.
