Guido's Other Interview

Well, Mr Fawkes may have needed a few wee drams after his Newsnight experience, but THIS interview he has just done with the Noodlepie blog is most excellent.

59 comments:

  1. Staines is an absolute disgrace. He is currently filtering and deleting adverse comment from his blog.

Surely it would have been more dignified if he had merely sat in front of the Newsnight cameras silently picking his nose and eating it.

    ReplyDelete
  2. Guido outed Nick Robinson as the source for one of his 'scoops' - never trust a tory.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Guido did not do himself any favours on Newsnight by not allowing his face to be shown. However Paxman and moreover the awful Michael White were dreadful. The BBC is obviously having a go at bloggers so be careful Iain

    ReplyDelete
  4. Paxo and White were controlled, excellent and exposed the pathetic Staines for what he is.

Staines's blog is based on a falsehood ie. all mainstream journalists and politicians are liars. It's a seductive philosophy because it removes any need for thought or responsibility and means that complex issues can be condensed into a few simple-to-understand conspiracy theories.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Well nonny 2:00am.

    Let's have the names,
    (1) a mainstream journalist and (2) a politician who has not lied at any time in their career.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Come on Iain, grow some balls instead of this side-step.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Hi, I really enjoyed reading your blog.

    ReplyDelete
  8. It is the various anons on this board that should grow some balls. Hiding themselves amid faceless obscurity. Go on - tell us who you are. And who you work for. Then you can ask some questions.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Since last night's crucifixion on Newsnight (comes in at number two in the history of crucifixions) I recall that Guido's associate, Recess Monkey made a similar suicidal move a few weeks ago with his "Maggie is Dead" post.

These tragic, whiny air guitar players of the political blogosphere are bringing the whole thing into disrepute, and as usual Iain, you are nailing your colours firmly to the fence.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Never mind Guido's other interview. "Iain Dale only does TV because I wont". Can't. He got his just deserts. It did not even require a court order to get his source out of him. It came squealing out like a stuck pig.

    ReplyDelete
  11. The one who came out really badly was the revoltingly smug Groaniad journo named White - id never heard of him, but he was pretty revolting.

    ReplyDelete
  12. jailhouselawyer (landlady-killing axe murderer), he's explained on his blog already about the source revealing.

The source refrred to is Radio 4!
    http://politics.guardian.co.uk/funding/story/0,,2027717,00.html

The BBC's political editor Nick Robinson said on Radio 4's the World at One: "Ruth Turner wrote a document in which she expressed her concern that Lord Levy had put to her a version of events which she believed to be untrue."

Nick Robinson is not sending him anonymous tip-offs. Suggest you stick to axe killing in future: politics doesn't suit you.

    Don't be surprised. These anons are either;

    (1) Tim Ireland
    (2) Jailhouselawyer
    (3) An enthusiastic Labour Troll

They hide behing anonymity because they want their views to be taken on here seriously but they know that if they revealed who they were, everyone would know it's the usual d1ckheads who have an axe to grind against Ian or Guido.

They will deny it, but they know it.

    ReplyDelete
  14. So what? A ten minute spat on TV with White and with Paxo 'moderating' is everyone's God-given right, isn't it?

The ubiquitous White is merely interested in his own fortunes. Frankly, I squirm whenever I see/hear him being 'interviewed'. It's hard to imagine anyone more pompous, self-interested, anal and petty than White. I doubt he's had anything really important to say for decades.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Guido didn't cover himself in glory last night, but I think that you must remember that it was an "away match" on the traditional media turf. Iain is much more assured and effective, probably down to a combination of demeanor and experience in front of the camera. The interview and slot was, however, both entertaining and interesting, and thus worthwhile.

    ReplyDelete
  16. "(1) a mainstream journalist and (2) a politician who has not lied at any time in their career."

And of course members of the public are paragons of virtue who never tell porkies.

Bollocks - the astroturfers are a right-wing thing with that nauseating praguetory character actually boasting on Mad Nad's blog about how he could "help" her out with his friends and all their attendant multiple personalities if she wanted.

Ireland has only ever posted as himself and although I find him a tad obsessive at times, he's bang on the money re Dale and Staines.

Oh and Guido's pruned his blog of all the "Jesus wept - you were CRAP" comments so only the genially joshing remain.

This combined with his threat to sue bloggers over allegations about his past have scuppered his libertarian principles somewhat I feel.

Oh, and he's a nasty smearing little shit with an agenda and a blog. So the f*ck what, nobody's heard of him outside of Westminster and very few have within the Village either.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Perhaps you could offer him some 'media training' in the environs of Doughty Street ? He certainly needs it ! His film was good, but then he threw it away in the last couple of minutes with a woeful interview...

    Cue footballing analogy...

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yes, but Guido put a 'poll' on his website with the question - should he go on telly - we could see the outcome, voted for him to go on, and yet he was foolish enough to fall for it..

    ReplyDelete
  19. Chuck Unsworth 9:24

You may not like Michael White but at least he guards his sources, unlike Staines who willingly exposed his source when under no pressure at all.

And... what happened to his libertarian principles. He has spent the last few hours deleting all criticism from his blog. So much for free speech.

The man is a shambles. Last night he reminded me of Piers (Alan B'Stard's sidekick) but not quite as likeable.

The 'Guido' mask has slipped - we will never forget!

    ReplyDelete
  20. To be fair, it was pretty cringeworthy on all counts. 'Guido' got his comeuppance, but the performance of the preposterous 'Sir' Michael White was one of the most undignified I've seen on a serious show like Newsnight for quite a long time.

    ReplyDelete
  21. If Staines had brought along his dinner, Michael White would have ate that too.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Actually I said to Nadine the following

"In the Conservative Party, there are many of us who are looking at all blogs too, we don't need to be paid and we're better at arguing than those incompetents on the Left. Make friends who will support you and just give us a nod when required."

That's got nothing to do with astro-turfing. Hamer, you're (aham) a bag-carrier not a layabout like me. You've got a lot more to lose.

    ReplyDelete
  23. "You may not like Michael White but at least he guards his sources, unlike Staines who willingly exposed his source when under no pressure at all."

Staines source was the Radio News.

He doesn't need to guard it you idiot.

And Iain, the axe murderer is posting libels now, would suggest you delete them.

    ReplyDelete
  24. anonymous 11:08

You are Paul Staines - why are you posting in disguise?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Oh and when you're "required" what do you do?

"That's got nothing to do with astro-turfing. Hamer, you're (aham) a bag-carrier not a layabout like me. You've got a lot more to lose."

Stop threatening me praguetory. It isn't NICE, you know.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Hamer Shawcross 8:59am

"Oh, and he's a nasty smearing little shit with an agenda and a blog."

    So are you d1ckwad.

As you are; "Dedicated to exposing the bollocks spouted by media and bag-carrier alike about life in the House of Commons as a Labour researcher. "

    A labour researcher!! Hahaha!!!

No wonder you're so upset about Guido :-)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Jailhouselawyer:

"Politics suits me fine, my track record speaks for itself.."

Indeed it does! With a track record like yours, you couldn't fail in politics!

    W@nker.

  28. Am I the only person on the planet who did not see this interview? I was watching newsnight, remembered the interview was coming up, and swiftly changed channels. Nothing bores me more than blogging about blogging, and by extension, turning up on television to talk about blogging.

Well, silly me. I seem to have missed something interesting. If the video is online somewhere, could someone point me in that direction?

    ReplyDelete
  29. I'm not upset about Guido, I'm delighted about the interview!

And of course I have an agenda but I don't sink to allowing astroturfers to post libellous smears about those with whom I disagree.

I'll leave that to you and one of your many personalities.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Anon 10:20

'At least he guards his sources' Does he have any? As to 'guarding' them, maybe you'd like to take a closer look at the White history. It's none too savoury.

Deleting comment? Well, so bleeding what? It's his blog, he can do what the hell he wants with it. If you are seriously concerned about getting your point of view on the net, just start your own. No doubt it will be remarkably popular, although 'Anonymous' Blog' doesn't sound too attractive to me.

And who are these 'we' you speak on behalf of? The rest of the patients, maybe?

“what little credibility he once had has now vanished”

You really do spout such sanctimonious guff, you have never credited Guido with any credibility and only do so now begrudgingly and as a insult; you have a blog which is largely ignored by one and all, sometime ago you hitched a ride on Guido’s coat tails and brazenly touted for visitors to your site. You were exposed as a convicted killer, for bludgeoning an old Lady death with an axe and then claimed to be unrepentant; subsequently you and your comments were greeted with such distain that you have since move onto Iain Dale’s site, where once more you have used another blogs success to spread your poisonous musings and bile.

While you mistakenly scream the loss of Guido’s credibility, how galling it must be for an egotistical nonentity to know that he has none nor ever will.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Good old Guido.

If anyone can rough up the old establishment it has to be Mr Staines.

    I can't wait for Lord Levy's trial.

Eat your heart out Nick Robinson!

  37. Well well well Guido! Well done I suppose for confounding my Fawkes-esque kite of a story that you had recorded the interview BEFORE running the poll on whether to take part. I have posted a grovelling apology as well near the top of the blog.

Meanwhile I have changed the question slightly on my earlier poll HERE and also given a NO option which replaces yet another YES option.

Unfortunately I don't know how to correct the pollster's result site to the new text so you'll need to crunch up your eyes and use your imagination.

Saving Guido from re-execution has become the same answer as allowing him execution by drinking himself to death.

Come on you Tory bloggers! Moderation off please. Meanwhile cranks can come and rant over on my site - shame the google adverts aimed at ranting mavericks - pile cream, hairpieces and viagra - are not yet in place. But hey ho.

For God's sake review Guido's performance and dissociate yourself from it before he pulls down the entire political blogging community. This was the MSM's chance to get rid of you lot once and for all and he played into their hands.

Googlebot - one visitor, many hits.

Unique visitors is the stat to go for.

  52. anonymous 2.50: You don't say. There's a difference between hits and visits? Well, I never. I also have Google Analytics. 54. Ooh - I've arrived - I've provoked a "not Marquee Mark" to post. How truly wonderful.

The point is that whilst Marquee Mark is not precisely what it says on my birth certificate, I consistently post under it. That way people can get an idea of who is making the point and what my views are. Probably not worth a rats ass for the most part, but I'd like to think I contribute a little to the community here. It takes no more effort to "choose an identity" when posting - and keeping it - than submerging into the mass of "anon".

The anonymasses could perhaps try posting under "Mindless Drone 17845" or some such. They might not grow any balls - but you never know, they might grow a personality instead...

Yes that would be me, and I too will also in future be posting under "Marquee Mark" unless you have the balls to open a Google/Blogger account and then it will be all yours, you have 24 hours to do the deed and try not to be so rude about people you know nothing about in the future it's not called for.
