I have had my first CF member joining the Party because of your work! He is
a 20 y/o boy from a less privileged background. He left school at 16 and
currently works for a football academy. He contacted the Party to join
after watching you and listening to you flying the flag for the Conservative
viewpoints. He discovered through you that he is a Conservative.
If I worked for the BBC I'd say something like, 'at the BBC, this is what we do', or some such rubbish. I have had several emails like this in recent weeks and believe me, they make it all worthwhile.
No worries Iain.Reading your blog makes me and I hope many others realise that in a modern and foward looking Britain the Conservative Party should be reduced to a minority party given its narrow social outlook.Note the reference to the young man's social background not his beliefs.
ReplyDeleteSomething to Warm Your Cockles
ReplyDeleteand I thought this was a family blog
Excellent work!
ReplyDeleteOff topic but just listen to Humphreys interviewing Cameron it was a total disgrace and clearly shows BIAS against Conservatives.
ReplyDeleteTypical of B.B.C
Just listen to it!!
Off subject I know but have just listened to Dave on radio 4-that old welsh winbag line about "being kebabed" springs to mind.
ReplyDeleteDave says British Society is in trouble-that's the good news.
ReplyDeleteThe bad news is that what's left of the Conservative Party is in even deeper trouble.
That 'discovered through you that he is a conservative' mad me lol. But, of course, wonderful that he should come out and accept the deepest impulses of his inner self.

ReplyDeletegiven its narrow social outlook
ReplyDeleteYou mean the party which offers opportunity for all vs the party which offers handouts for the many?
Morning Iain
ReplyDeleteFor balance I think it is worth pointing out that after watching and listening to you recently I have been able to remind myself why I am NOT a Tory - thank you.
PS - did you really post this at 01:41?
Now all the Tories need to do is rule out any coalition with the scavengers of British politics and you might have a few more supporters.
ReplyDelete"I have had several emails like this in recent weeks and believe me, they make it all worthwhile".
ReplyDeleteI run a little educational website, and I sometimes get 'thanks, you helped me...' emails that do, as you say, "make it all worthwhile".
Good job!
ReplyDeleteThe disparaging comments on this thread should be taken as further proof that NuLab is losing support from both the left and right, and they all know it.
Roy Hattersley on QT last night -'I was Deputy Leader when the Labour Party was still the Labour Party!'
Even their own admit that NuLab is a busted flush.

ReplyDeleteYeah, Roy 'how much?' Hattersley, was the Deputy Leader, when Labour was still Labour.
ReplyDeleteHis 'real' Labour, was a three times loser and was responsible for letting Thatcher waste great Britain.
Blair has corrected the abuse of discrimination in all sectors bar none.
You Ultra Tories (three times losers) will only talk 'dome' talk and see equality as only inequality to you.
Stay where you are, with Steve Hilton and 'druggy' Dave and reap the benefits of Socialism.
Doom.
one Iain. I suppose we all like to think we are doing our bit!
ReplyDelete"He is

Will they charge him 25 quid to join?

ReplyDelete"Blair has corrected the abuse of discrimination in all sectors bar none"
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what this means. Is discrimination being abused?-is this something we should legislate against?
Ed
ReplyDelete"The party which offers opportunity for all"
Is mass unemployment opportunity?
3 million under Thatcher for those that care to forget.
Over the last year or so I have had a few "conservative" moments that have made me realise that I have probably always been a conservative (although not always particularly liking the Party itself).
ReplyDeleteIn your recent post the point was raised that the internet stops people seeing a wider range of opinions. For me, the opposite is true. The internet has exposed me to lots of opinions and perspectives that I've never seen before.
"He is
ReplyDeletea 20 y/o boy from a less privileged background."
Sorry but this makes it sound like they are just happy to have a "poor" kid to tick one of Cameron's inclusiveness boxes.
